Dustbones' name is a play on the name of an alternative metal band called Deftones. When I was originally designing him, he reminded me of two album covers put together . . .
Dustbones isn't a natural wolf, or animal in general for that matter. I don't have a lot in that field currently, but it's possible he could be a demon as he bears features that abnormal to most mammals. It's mainly in his teeth though. I can't really explain it, except his gums are sort of make an x-shaped hole with his canines being hooked in shape. I may leave an illustration of it here later.
