Sep wags their tail and gives you a few chin licks in greeting. They're always so happy to see you!

Muzzle high up to the sky, eyes twinkling at the sight of the night sky above him. Sep lets out a soft gasp, a 'woohhaaaa', tail wagging awkwardly against the ground he is sitting on. The world was such a beautiful place, each and every day he was learning more and more--- during his puppy training with different pack members, he was always reminded of nature and its importance. To never let ANYTHING go to waste, that the universe cares for you in its own way. 'The universe loves you', they'd say, and he'd snap his ears back in annoyance. But now that he's grown, sitting next to his mother, who's now more grey than cream, he can see it. The universe is beautiful.
"You can use the stars to navigate when your smell fails." she speaks, full of wisdom--- he's aware that there was a time when his mother was but a pup like him, an unconscious adolescent who'd go around getting into trouble. The scars itched deep into her fur, which is enough of a reminder of what has happened to her, of her time spent in this world and universe, of her fading life. "Our ancestors are watching us from up there, and they will guide us if we were ever to be lost."
It was a hard concept to grasp. He always thought that when someone died, they went back to the earth below. It was what his father had told him--- 'you have to give back, one day or another.' How could they be both in the stars, and below our paws? A few members of the pack had recently passed away. They were old, their fur clung to their bones, and they'd be slow with their movement. However, the pups always loved the story they'd tell. He was there when the pack would pay their respect. He had to, he was the heir after all. He's gone back during his patrol with his mom, and seen the way the earth reclaimed their bodies. It was scary to think about. "Weren't they supposed to go back to the earth?"
A soft chuckle, that's a bit raspy from howling too much. Eyes that were getting muckier each day, he didn't give his mother more than a few days, and it was hard to think about. "Their bodies go back to the earth, yes. But their soul," she tilts her head up, and the stars fill up her eyes. If you look past the age, she'd look like a pup discovering the wild for the first time. "their souls are up there."
