On a cold and windy night, the moon cast a faint glow on a little shape moving in a hurry. The young pup had his head down and eyes scrunched against the rain that stared to fall. He'd been exiled from his pack and it looked like he had nowhere to go. Finally when all hope seemed to be lost it looked like the Ruler of the Hybrids was lending him a helping paw. A root cave appeared a few paces in front of him, howling in delight he started toward the cave only to come face to face with another wolf. "Get back!" Growled the stranger. By the smell of the strange wolf the young pup could tell it was a she wolf, her prickly personality made him wary. He'd tried to resin with her but the driving rain made him reckless. He advanced on the she wolf only to be met with a sharp bite to the ear. He'd stared at her in disbelief and saw her black pelt was slick with rain and her razor sharp teeth had blood on them. He realized in horror that it was his blood!. He started to back away but the black pelted she wolf advanced. "Please" he whimpered, "don't hurt me I just want to find a dry place to spend the night" then added quickly " I'm sorry to intrude on your territory" he backed away his ear hurt and felt like it was on fire. The she wolf looked at him and crouched ready to tear at his face but as she bunched her legs ready to end him a blur of silvery white flashed in front of him protecting him. The new wolf "his protector" was also a she wolf. And she bristled her fur up to make herself even bigger. The new she wolf growled at the black pelted enemy and growled " touch the pup again and it will be the last time you ever see this world again" the silvery white wolf had so much feeling behind the threat that the young pup was sure she'd follow through with it. To his surprise the black pelted wolf backed away and ran back into her cave. The silvery white wolf relaxed after the threat had passed. She turned to the young pup and looked him over and gently started to clean his ear. He just stared at her numbly, "it's alright your safe" she spoke gently to him like a mother speaking to her babies. He looked up at her and realized she had eyes the color of orchids and immediately felt comfort, like he'd be safe as long as this wolf was by his side. "I'm HeartCaller, the Alpha of the ShadowRaven Pack." She told him then asked "what's your name young one" he looked at her and then looked down at his muddy paws. HeartCaller could see the troubled look in his eyes, she also noticed that he had one brown eye and one blue
eye. She lead him under a willow whose branches were sagging form the rain, it provided some shelter from the rain. "It's alright if you don't want to tell me your name" she said calmly as she looked at the rain clouds. They young pup spoke softly she almost didn't hear him. "It's not that I don't want to tell you my name, I don't have one" he whispered sadly. HeartCaller felt a rush of emotion and wanted to help the young wolf. "Do you want to join my pack" she asked him. He looked up at her with bright eyes and and an eager expression. "You'd take me into your pack even though you don't know me?" He asked her. HeartCaller looked amused. "You have a good heart, you're young but that's alright you'll get more confidence when you get older. Then added with a low growl " so wolves like that black pelted she wolf will think twice before messing with you" she looked at his torn ear. He looked at her again and suddenly he realized he did want to join this Alpha where ever she goes. "Yes" he replied "I'll join your pack, I want to be with you HeartCaller you saved my life and for that I'll spend the rest of my life repaying that debt" he spoke without hesitation. "Well alright then that settles it" then she studied him more closely and he felt small under her intense orchid gaze. So he looked up at the stars that began to show as the clouds began to move away. HeartCaller noticed and she made a quiet whine to get his attention, he looked at her embarrassed. "From now on you shall be known as "StarSeeker" for you seem to like studying the stars and the beauty within them." He looked at her with happiness, he finally had a name "StarSeeker" I like it thank you HeartCaller. She nodded at him and they made their way out from under the willow. StarSeeker felt more optimistic as he followed HeartCaller to the path that would lead them to her territory, he'd finally had a pack and an Alpha who would stand by him and protect him till he could return the favor, which he thought he hoped he wouldn't have to because he couldn't imagine his Alpha in a situation where her life hang in the balance. Shaking away his dark thoughts he wanted to know how she found him. "HeartCaller" he asked tentatively. "Yes StarSeeker" she looked at him calmly. "How, how did you find me, er I mean um how did you know I needed help" he saw her stop and she took a deep breath and said "I've been tracking that she wolf for some time, she's made or more like has tried to make dens in my territory" her eyes darkened "I've seen how vicious she could be and I didn't want her to meet one of my patrols" she glanced at his ear then looked at him in the eye. "I saw you advancing towards her den and when she came out and bite you the way she did, well I've got pups of my own so I suppose it was the mother in me" she looked at him warmly. "Does that suffice your curiosity" she asked with a good humored growl. "Yes Alpha, thank you, I'm glad you came when you did because I thought I was crow food for sure!" He howled. They both laughed as they continued towards their pack territory and the cozy camp that lay in a deep enclosed forest.
JaggedWing, HeartCallers mate came and licked her on her cheek as they entered the camp, welcoming her home. "Who's this" he asked in a deep voice. "This is StarSeeker and he is a new member of our pack." The Alpha replied confidently.
