Orion was recruited by Proxima from the Trading center when she needed a breeding stud for the pack. They made a deal that Orion would be in charge of the incoming and outgoing breeding requests as well as being a hunter.
Orion does not include himself to his children's life's in any way. He might teach them or coach them in their chosen role, but nothing beyond that. He refuses to be called a father, for he thinks himself as a "life giver", not a caregiver.
