Biography
Nephele had never thought it would happen to her, she was not the type for love or romance. But something about Redfur got under her coat and tore her calm self control apart. She never liked male wolves in a romantic sense, always preferring the company of females... like Merkaba. But... then Banshee tried to kill her.. and Redfur chose his loyalty to her over his long time mate. The pain in his eyes as he stood between them, the scars on his skin she could see everyday from when Banshee attacked him before he chased her off...these were things she never forgot.But as she kept him in her personal cave, nestled in next to her every night, something began to change. The gentleness in his eyes when he gazed her direction then looked away when he realized she noticed. It was endearing. A deep friendship had taken root but lately.. it was blossoming to something more. Could she in fact... love a male wolf?
The answer was as plain as the wing mark on her back... it was yes. So she decided to make something of that and declared to the pack that he was her chosen mate. For she could never bare seeing him with that pained and betrayed look in his eyes ever again. No one would hurt him ever again... not on her watch.
Sometime later...
Nephele made a disgusted noise. " You really think I would take another mate after you pass, you have taken leave of your senses. Its only you.. its always been.. only you. You are my greatest love.. my only love." She replied, giving Redfur a look like he had just told her to eat rancid meat. Redfur sighed.. a sound normally reserved for a pup that was being especially naughty. He then leaned over and tugged her ear gently with his teeth. " My dearest heart.. please. I do not wish you miserable the rest of your days. Our daughter will need you.. and you will have each other to lean on. Also.. the rest of the pack. You have several more good moons in you. You have worked so hard to bring the pack to where we are now. Quitting has never been a part of your nature and we both know it." He replied softly but sternly. The last thing he wanted was his mate to be miserable the rest of her days. He could see the color of her fur starting to dull with age, much like his was now, a rusty red where it had been vibrant before and peppered with white.
" I love you too Nephele, you gave me back what I thought was lost to me forever.. and I look at our pups with pride, knowing in love they were made and will be good additions to our pack. But we cant change reality... even if we wanted to. Just because my body is gone, does not mean I am leaving you forever and I want to see you loved and looked after. The same way.. you did to me when my heart was shattered and bleeding. Treat yourself with more love.. you deserve it and so much more." He added, licking her muzzle.
" Ugh.. why are you such a charmer? You serpant tongued handsome bastard." Neph replied with a groan and a chuckle and returned his affectionate gesture. She then smirked and suddenly pinned him on his back.. then promptly laid down over him. " There.. now you can't leave." She declared, her tail thumping behind her in amusement. Laughter tore from Redfur... perhaps the discussion was best left here.
