Amanthu was taken in to aid the ailing pack after Kayuqtuq's famine. She has proven to be an independent hunter. She is the founder of her bloodline. She is not respected in the pack due to her unwillingness to work together with other wolves in the hunt, although she is better than any of them at working on her own. She is reserved and introverted, but very loving. Amanthu takes great pride in all her adopted pups. She has a particularly strong rivalry with Koskoda due to his efforts to change. During one of her hunts she lost an eye, but refuses to say what happened. Many suspect there was a fight, but prey can also be dangerous. Either way, Amanthu now considers an early retirement as the missing eye is making it harder for her to perform her job as she adjusts to seeing in a new way. There seems to be pressure for her to leave from the other members of her hunting party too. Years after leaving her hunting party, Amanthu is welcomed into the Midnight Den as an honored mentor. Since she had no position prior, no wolf takes her place.
