Pride gleams in Iftekharul's eyes. His father was often absent on ambassador duties, and Iftekharul knows he has many siblings spread across neighboring packs. Mother loved him and his full-blooded littermates equally, but father said he is special.
Iftekharul's uniqueness was acknowledged in puphood when he asked his parents what a King was and why he saw himself as one in his dreams. Wizard Rayld declared this a good sign and said he was closer to his past lives than most. Iftekharul did his best to make an image of the item he saw on his human self in the dreams and glued it to his head with resin. Most were impressed, though some offered funny looks.
Just as he was enjoying the attention Alpha Taak introduced a young orphan to the pack and said he too saw dreams of his past life as a human King. Kaadah was humble, and the crown he made was far more beautiful. Everyone loved him. On the heels of this disappointment, Iftekharul learned he would not be given his father's role of ambassador with special breeding rights.
Iftekharul keeps a close eye on the older King, always looking for ways to trip him up.
