At some point in her life, Dina had joined the pack settlement under the leadership of Oakley and Mira. After Ellie and Joel found safe haven within the settlement, Dina became friends with the former. She also became acquainted with and dated Jesse, though they eventually broke up for unknown reasons.
Dina, whom Ellie has had a crush on for years, is sarcastic and confident, balancing out Ellie's self-consciousness. She's very funny and charming, or she certainly thinks she's funny. Ellie thinks so, which is lucky for her.
While she may seem a less hardened wolf, she knows how to bare tooth and claw, how to stealth, she knows how to take down a prey as well as Ellie and anyone else in her hunting party.
