The Lead Wolf of the Sanctuary.

Two pale eyes peer down below, their icy gaze glowing in the ambience of falling snow. From the precipice of his cairn, the silver wolf watches idly as his pack go about their midday routine. The dawn scout had only just returned, alerting the dusk scout to prepare while they take their rest. One party of hunters begins to discuss tactics, while another spends their time grooming each other and bonding. The pups have long since dragged their sitters out to play, while the adolescents are still chirping over this morning's hunt.
Penumbra spots his companion speaking with the herbalist whilst his sons are roughhousing just a ways from them. A heartwarming sight, indeed. As if on cue, Banshee's soft eyes meet his, and Penumbra finds himself momentarily stunned- perhaps too lost in her beauty. With a quick nod, Penumbra recollects himself and averts his gaze, earning a soft chuckle from Banshee and the herbalist

"Penumbra" in astrology is defined as the the outer part of a conical shadow, cast by a celestial body, where the light from the Sun is partially blocked. It is often a lighter shadow than that of the umbra, a dark core. A fitting name for the civil and reserved silver wolf.
Penumbra was born a rogue wolf in the marshy eastern woodlands, spending much of his youth searching for scraps and refuge in rotting shelters. It wasn't until his first year that he had began making his way toward the mountains, along the way meeting several other rogue wolves seeking shelter from the coming winter. Penumbra banded together with these wolves to create a make-shift pack.
Though it was only meant to be a temporary circumstance, Penumbra found that the longer he'd spend in these wolves' company, the more attached he became to all of them, and the more comfortable he became in the kinship and belonging he found amongst their pack dynamic. But they could not stay together- these loners had their own futures to attend to once winter ended.
But the longing of togetherness did not leave Penumbra once spring bloomed- and when it was time for all parties to part, the silver wolf left them with only one request: let any other wanderers you meet know that there will be a place for them in the taiga. Tell them to follow the larchwood path, to the waterfall. There, they will be welcomed among my sanctuary.
