Takara was born to the alphas of the Kohana Pack, Camellia and Kobayashi. Born in the midst of winter, his fate was uncertain. His mother and father were both middle aged, being around two years old, but neither had their own pups before. There were few others in the pack to help provide for a litter of pups, and both the alphas were somewhat worried. Kobayashi was also known to be a bit of a pessimist, and he wasn't quite sure if he was meant to be a father.

Thankfully for the pair, a single pup was born. He was given his name while Camellia rested. Kobayshi didn't really know he had named him, but he had called him "our treasure." Once she awoke, Camellia listened to Kobayashi's nickname for the golden pup and came up with the name Takara, since it meant treasure in Japanese.

Takara was a rather secluded pup. He grew up mostly alone, playing either by himself and making up games as he went, or he played with the pupsitter Ren. Takara was grateful for him. He knew his parents loved him but it sometimes got lonely when his mother was attending her pack duties and his father went scouting for days on end. Still, Ren had his own family to watch over and it was more often than not that Takara would be off in the woods, playing by himself somewhere. This loneliness developed into a rather sullen personality, and it wasn't uncommon for him snap at someone or be somewhat sad about a dead prey animal the hunters brought back.

He's the older brother of the adopted Makoa, who he finds somewhat annoying. He's four years older and pulls the I'm-your-older-brother card a lot when he finds Makoa getting out of hand. Still, he would die for the little guy despite his rambunctious behavior, and he knows his parents would want him to treat his little brother well.

Takara never quite knew what he wanted to be besides an alpha. He never had any friends he could follow in a career, so he decided he'd just become a pupsitter. It seemed easy enough, but he soon realized it might be a bit of a pain, especially when he was left to watch Makoa and his brother's friends Kaven and Vanalika. He got good experience out of it though, so he couldn't really complain. He eventually decided he'd become a mentor since there were now fewer pups and he had some knowledge to pass on, and would be a mentor for a few months before Camellia passed away.

While he was teaching young Deborah how to hide from predators, he noticed movement nearby and saw a brown tail over a small shrub. Believing he had found her, Takara jumped over the bushes and landed firmly in the small forest clearing. The animal was not, however, Deborah. In fact, she wasn't even a wolf. The creature looked at him with wide amber eyes, and her tail tucked. The creature was a medium-sized dog, and her floppy ears went back in apprehension of the newcomer. Realizing how intimidating he must look, Takara cracked a smile and play-bowed, hoping to gain her trust. It worked, and soon the two were playing like pups. She introduced herself as Seraphina, and she talked of odd, furless, two-legged creatures. They chatted some more while he looked for the pup and they later found Deborah and returned back to the pack.

Eventually, Seraphina and Takara became very close to the point where they became mates. They had been mates for only a month when Takara eventually took over as alpha, but he was glad to know that he would rule with Seraphina by his side.

Around two months after he became alpha, Seraphina gave birth to a single pup. The red wolf-dog pup instantly had Takara's heart, and he made sure to spend time with her, so that perhaps she would have a less lonely puphood. When he wasn't there, Takara knew that Seraphina would keep the pup company.
