While Root originally had desires to leave the pack to find his own way, once his mother started allowing mated pairs within the pack he decided to stay for Moss and Pinecone's ceremony. After the ceremony, he pulled Glacier, who he had fancied for some time, to the side and asked her to be his mate. If she said no, he would have no reason to stay within the pack. If she said yes, he was willing to settle down in his parent's pack for her.
The last surviving member of Strike Team, his age is catching up with him and he hopes to join the spirit world soon to be united with his family.
