Smoke was named heir of Fierce Pack on the day of her naming, but she is balking at the responsibilities that it comes with, as well as the idea of picking her mate so soon. Shadow is not pressing her to take any action yet as she is not close to retiring, but Smoke fears Shadow will react negatively once she is told about her daughter's lack of ambition. She only wants to be a scout like her father.

She has expressed these desires to her mother, who told her that once another pup is born that she feels is worthy of the title she will allow Smoke to step down, but she cannot afford to lose one of her best chasers with the loss of Pinecone affecting Swift Team.

Smoke became hopeful that her young sister would be chosen as heir when she got her name. She decided she would help her mother make her decision by courting the newly made pupsitter Storm. She was surprised to find out he felt the same way and now they are the parents of the largest litter the pack has ever had this Spring. Shadow is not too impressed with the pups,, but promises them a good home.

Storm's death hit her harder than she imagined, but they never had another litter after their first, none of which stayed in the pack.
