Shadow escaped from a reserve with her mate Frostbite when she was a yearling, she has trouble trusting outsiders from the pack and will very rarely bring new wolves in. Her only exception is pups, she cannot help but bring any young wolves she finds into the pack. She is very level-headed but will not tolerate any nonsense from her packmates, and will not hesitate to show dominance.

Shadow was devastated by Frostbite's mysterious death the day they moved to the Taiga. She had wanted to grow old with him, and now all she had as a reminder of him were his pups still living in the pack. She blames herself for his death, but the whole pack mourns him.

Fierce Pack's current Alpha prioritizes having each member of the pack fulfilling their role to their greatest ability. Even if their only role is to watch the pack's pups, every wolf is given a job to do.

Shadow and Frostbite decided the way they want their line to continue is to choose one of their daughters to become the next alpha of the pack, who will then choose an outsider male to be her mate and breeding male of the pack to keep pack lines clean. Their named heir is Sparrow, with Patch being her anticipated mate. The unexpected death of Frostbite has sealed this choice.

After Frostbite's death, Shadow went out to the wilds (twice!) to find a male to be the sire of her last two litters to diversify the blood within the pack, as many pups are related to Frostbite, but not as many are related to Shadow, Sparrow did not approve of this, but no-one could tell the Alpha no. Shadow plans to step down as soon as possible after her pups are weaned, Sparrow wants her to consider waiting until their naming to do so.
