Thyla

“Dream beyond the horizon.”

Thyla was a dreamer, her thoughts always wandering as she listened to the whispers of butterflies. She always seemed to have a riddle or a stray thought to follow and while the more stoic Crypt never understood her fanciful ways, she dreamed for herself, and she dreamed for others.

It was in her last year wandering that she found the path to the lunar plains, her weary bones wandering the blue land with wide, fresh eyes. She would pass this knowledge onto her golden daughter, Melody. Of her elder children, Yamira lacked the dreaming and Strike was too much like her father. But Melody could find her way for a little while, until the next pup came of age.

On her last days she wandered through the complete territory again, away from the warm lands of the south that she preferred up north towards the cold that Melody favoured, making it as far as the Taiga before finally and forever resting.

She lay there with the last turtle shell she had retrieved, her peace only punctuated by the flapping of butterfly wings.
