Daylight

The anxious pup-sitter of the Sheer Cliffs Pack.

A former hunter, Daylight speaks little of his life before joining the Pack. All that's known is that it must've been rough, as the young wolf is very anxious, seeming to constantly be on the alert. Jumping at every noise, seemingly always looking over his shoulder...

It goes without saying he did poorly as a hunter, startling the prey nearly as often as it startled him, causing numerous failed hunts. When his hunting party had grown frustrated, and called for his removal, River answered with giving him the responsibility of pup-sitter, claiming that a wolf so afraid of everything would be the first to know of danger coming for young pups.

Daylight was originally unhappy about his new position, seeing it as a punishment and having wanted the healing position for himself. However, shortly after his new rank, a new wolf joined, a former nomad named Stone, who spoke of prophecies and the deities, and was soon given the title of Healer. Daylight was... Curious, and found himself spending his free time with the male, only to find the stranger was just as lost and nervous as he was, being put in such a powerful position.

The two spent much time together, telling stories, talking of their old homes and beliefs. It wasn't long before they were mates, and Daylight was content with his life, raising the Pack's pups as if they were his own.

Then came the winter when both litters he was watching died, one pup after the other... Nobody blamed him, not even River, the leader and mother of one of the litters. It was a well-known fact both litters had been trouble-makers, and... Daylight had worked alone until that point, but it was beginning to show he was getting older and was having a hard time keeping up with pups. He was quickly given two helpers after that

He watched generations of Sheer Cliffs pups grow, before realizing how old he had truly become. He retired after River's watching River's third - or was it fourth?- litter, and moved into Stone's den, so he could spend more time with his mate.

He spent his final days with Stone, resting, and telling stories like when they were younger, before passing in his sleep. He now waits for his mate in the heavens, where he watches the Pack he helped raise.
