It had been one night during the fall, spending a day with his aging mate, Brandy, when Yarrow found the strangest of sights.
A puppy curled up neatly in the grass as a newborn fawn would. He turned to his companion, "Who on earth would leave a pup out here?"
"No clue." Brandy had replied, lowering his head to sniff the puppy. The little bundle of fur lifted its head with a soft smile, tail barely wagging as she looked up at the two adult wolves.
There were no scents to indicate her parents had been here any time lately. Yet she seemed content and well-cared for where she was.
The pair spent the day with the puppy, letting her play with their flicking tails. It was when night fell that they brought the puppy back to the pack. They took Fey in as their own, even if the little puppy was a little strange compared to the other puppies of the Risktakers' pack.
She was their puppy, that was all that mattered to them.
