CoalWing knew what she was thinking.

"I am not lying I tell the truth and only the truth little one." He opened one of his eyes and looked at the guest. He gave a smile. "Do not be afraid"

Smart dragon, or maybe she was just predictable. Either way, her demeanor changed very little. She went as far as the branch allowed, stopping to groom her little face, staring down at the dragon. She did not dare shift, not only since she did not trust this dragon, but it was a fall enough to break a bone. What did this dragon want anyway, and how did they know what she really was?

CoalWing then woke up and looked at the guest in his path. He snorted a greeting in a friendly manner and then was about to shift. But he didn't want to. He liked his black and blue scales shining in the bright light. It made him feel superior to everyone else around him. But he didn't try and show it.

Jess huffed. Why couldnt she have a form like a dragon? But then again, very few are suspicious of a squirrel, given they couldnt tell she wasn't a native species. Tenatively, making sure no human was near to see, she clambered down the tree and into the soft grass.

Jessica shifted, her frizzy red hair mingling with the slight breeze. It was pulled back into a bun in an attempt to keep it under control, reddish freckles and dark smudges of grease on her face and hands. Her toolbelt was still laden with the tools she was using earlier.

"So, you wanna chat?" She stared up at the dragon, faltering courage ignored due to her curiosity. One thing she always wondered about was others like her- other shifters, but she never met one, or at least not that she knew.

CoalWing smiled and nodded his great head

"I would be glad to chat with you little one. What is on your mind?"

Jessica sighed, she was not so little for a human but a dragon, well...

"Well a lot. Always a lot. But my first thought is that there ia always the chance we are not alone. And why do some become dragons, and others squirrels? And, ugh I am getting carried away." She gnawed on her thumbnail.

"Its ok little one. I may seem very intimidating to you. But no worries. The reason why some become dragons like me and others squirrelsΒ  is probably because of who your parents were. But I do not know for sure." And we are never alone, little one, there are eyes all over even when we can not see them"

He got up on his legs and shook out his wings. Dew fell off of his huge handsome wings and landed on the ground.Β

Jess frowned. Part of her did not like how this dragon was always so right. "Well, there are probably less eyes at my place. Come on." And she briskly began to weave her way through the forest, knowing where she was and hidden trails. Of course, she would have perferred to follow scent trails as a squirrel, but she was still worried the dragon would decide they wanted a little fluffy snack. Besides, she was very fast as a squirrel.

"Relax little one, I don't eat things your size." CoalWing laughed.

He followed the little squirrel where she led him and never argued where they were headed. He wanted to walk a bit anyways.

She led the dragon to a modest home, two storied with a large walled off backyard jutting into the forest and plenty of squirrel and bird feeders to go around. Jessica shifted for a moment to scale the wall and eat a seed or two for good measure, hopping over and landing in an overgrown garden. Garden tools lay unused in a corner, and the ancient looking tree was in dire need of a trim. When she shifted back she was already waiting impatiently by the door.
