DRAFT

"Eventually, her only source of peace was taken away when they noticed that she could see them too."

Resting in between the highest of skies and underneath the lowest of caves, right between the greenest of grasses and the hardiest of trees, laid a wolf. A wolf covered in fur as black as charcoal and as smooth as a river stone. The creature licked at her wounds, deep scratches that had been caused by the other females in her pack. The cuts didn't hurt much, not anymore. A few ways away and into the Deciduous Forest away from her stood the pack, walking around peacefully as the day continued to work on. She laid her head against her paws and whined pitifully, she didn't mind being alone much, but this time, it's permanent.

She had been made without a mother, and the moment she opened her eyes, her pack regarded her as a monster. Colored black whereas others were cream or brown and an eye that luminated blue in the night. Her fate had been forever set to take care of herself and labeled a False within the large pack.

Yet, her greatest wish was to become a mother. To conceive pups of her own that she could take care of, and in turn they would love her back. To feel the worship that she so desperately needed.

So, a few months past one, she set herself up with a male. Then she tried again, and again, and again. No matter how many tries she did, she was still without a litter. Not even one pup. Still, she tried. She controlled her diet, ate herbs. and tried to get rid as much stress as she could. Nevertheless, it was never enough and the other females caught onto her actions.

In her pack, being wasteful is criminal, and she had been severely wasteful in both resources, energy, and most importantly, seed.

Immediately, the females had mistaken her desperation for lust. They scratched at her, degraded her, and left her to bleed out into the Grassland. Unfortunately, she survived the attack and was left alone to pick herself up and leave.

Without a pack for protection, she traveled carefully though the high of the Mountains and the wetness of the Swamp. Every now and then she would encounter an abandoned pup. Chased away by a pack that thought them useless. In these instances, she would approach the little pup and welcome her as their home.

They made her feel powerful, and in turn she watches over the pups with a watchful eye. Seeing as the years pass and they grew into adulthood and take care of their mother. During that time the small pack travels, sometimes picking up poor pups along the way. Some leave to create their own packs into distant lands, yet most stay. They stop in the heart of The Prairie. With the sweet smell of grass and the cool wind. The small pack takes rest here, and she falls asleep with her pups in her paws.

She wakes up alone and cold. She lifts up her head to the sight of three, other mothers. They look at her with angry eyes and distasteful snarls. Her pups are nowhere to be seen and there's blood in their claws. They accuse her of thievery, of stealing precious pups that should be looked over by their true mothers, not false ones. They've been following her for a long time.

She cried out to her pups, her loyal followers and providers. Yet, there was no one to answer back. The mothers, tired of her whining, beat her down. Scratching up her smooth fur and into black skin. She tried to protect herself from the onslaught but found herself unable to move.

The last memory she had was of horrid screaming and a large mushroom like cloud in front of a burning red sky.

In an unknown amount of time, in an unknowable date. The wolf wakes up from her assault. The place she had fallen asleep in is unrecognizable. Yet she could still feel that it was the same Prairie. Time had just passed the land, as it did all things.

Despite all the time she spent sleeping, she was far from healed. She could still feel the wounds the other mothers inflicted onto her skin. Whimpering, she put her head down and waited until she passed away.

However, a small shadow made its way towards her. It was a small round thing. It limped until making its way over in front of her paws. It was a pup. A small grey pup. It looked up at her with the biggest blue eyes that looked just like her own. She felt uncontrollable happiness at the sight of the precious thing and cooed at it. A soft ''It's So Nice To Meet You'.

Curling around the tiny pup, she cried. For she finally had a pup to call her own. With nobody to take the pup away, not under her watchful eye.
