Am I overpricing?

Am I overpricing?

Hey there!

I've had my YWH shop open for a few days, but haven't garnered any interest in my work. I'm worried that I might be asking too much? I'll link to the post here: link

And here is a finished example of the base I'm currently offering (tho I plan to add more if there's enough interest):

I colour it from scratch every time I work with a new design, and the process can take me around an hour in total, per character. I'm asking for 20 GC per, which I feel is fair given the time I have to invest in painting it. Still, I'm wondering if it's too expensive? Is the base not very appealing? Should I be showing more examples, etc. Any suggestions are very welcome!

you're charging yourself less than $10, and i think it should at least be 10, especially since every color and design is from scratch. I would say at least 40 gc or $10- though i do think more examples would be worthwhile.

edit: perhaps more complex examples?

edit 2 electric boogaloo: i think what might be the issue is the oversaturation of art shops at the moment- there's simply a lot of options for people to sort through.

No way! Your art is gorgeous and I think that pricing is 100% fair for a fullbody. Dittoing Tinyelephant.

I think it's a good price :o! I saw your art thread today, looked really good! The only reason I'm not buying things in this price range yet (literally it's not just you) is because I'm trying to knock my 150-300GC commissions out of the way first! Once I get the more expensive things done I'm going to get a ton of the less expensive things. Nice looking art though, and maybe this thread will garner more interest ;D

I think that's a generous price honestly you could charge more. I agree with Tiny in that there are just a lot of art shops right now, and not a super huge base of users yet. I think as time goes on it will get better. For sure maybe doing a more complex example, like a wolf with merle or dilution or some other complicated mark, would do you well. It would show that you could do the more intricate designs some people have.

Honestly, I think your main problem is the economy right now. Everyone wants to use their GC to get SC and the conversion rate is still figuring itself out. So if you're not getting any business, it could very well be that very few people have the money to pay. And your shop hasn't been up for long either, so that could be a part of it too.

Seems like you just got some interest though, so I'm sure it'll be fine as time goes on. :)

I love your style, your art is super pretty and clean. I think you're honestly undercharging for the quality of your work, as other people have said, you could definitely get at least $10-$15 (40-60GC) for these. There's a saturation of artists at the moment, with more seemingly coming in to show their art everyday. I think as soon as you get noticed, you'll get more commissions.

I think maybe more colours and examples may help you, you could also make more bases in the downtime while you wait for commissions to come in. I think tags/icons are a very popular choice for premade bases at the moment.

Thank you all for the thoughtful feedback <3 I'll keep this in mind going forward, and get started on some new bases so I can offer a bit of variety!

ah yes! I remeber your threat and honestly it's one of the few that really tempted me but I just can't afford this quality of art yet.
I don't think you charge too much at all and it's a really beautifull base.

I was honestly surprised how low their price is though

Thanks for the input! I think I didn't have a good sense of the value of GC when I was setting the price, but since a number of people have commented that I might be undercharging rather than overcharging, I'll definitely review my pricing and try to settle on something more appropriate. :)
