What is my art worth?

What is my art worth?

I posted this on Lioden earlier this month, but was curious as to how my artwork would be priced here as well!

I've been wanting to branch out of just drawing for myself, so I've pondered about opening up commissions for a while. I haven't had much success in the past, and have struggled greatly with coming up with prices for my artwork. So for right now I'm mostly looking for Pricing Advice (In SC/GC/USD), Interest Checks, & Potential Feedback for my artwork!

A good majority of what I draw is Warrior cat OCs & pokemon.
I have drawn other ferals in the past, but a lot of my current art pieices are Warrior cat Ocs & Pokemon designs.

I have a great deal of fun designing Pokemon Fusions, so that is also something I have pondered with doing alongside my commissions

i find an hourly wage im comfortable with and have that as a starting point !!

for example !! my 50x50 pixels usually take me an hour, and im personally okay with $10 for an hour (or less) of my time
my headshots start at $15 and my fullbodies start at $20

** i respectfully disagree with leaf. 20SC for a piece of art is extremely underpriced, i could sell a few rocks to the raccoon for that price :// please try not to undersell yourself !!

i'd say 20-50 sc for headshots and 50-100 sc for fullbody
you could modify it based on certain poses or the size of the final product
you could also charge extra for adding decor and/or backgrounds

your art's really cool btw :DD
i like the bottom one especially, really well done!!

Definitely 20-100 SC is way too low. Not trying to be mean leaf, but that's a 4th of the SC you can easily earn in a day.

While some people may charge based on time, or years of skill, or transfering your commission prices into GC, I'm going to take a different approach. It's worked pretty well for me over the years (on real life sites, not wolvden). Honestly, your never going to make full real money amount commissions on wolvden. That's just the reality of the situation. Not because of your art style or anything like that. Your art is so cute. But because of the wolvden economy. Most players don't have a ton of GC lying around. And even less are able to save and earn GC for art.

Start with a fair price to work towards your wolvden goals, but start raising your prices are you build more of a following. This could be selling all your slots, getting people commenting on your art thread, or anything like that. Or making Your Wolf Heres (like your character heres) to lower the time of work while keeping prices lower.

I think some fair starting prices that consider your style, the wolvden economy, and what I've seen sell well on the forums.
Adoptables - 10-30 GC depending on base, type, style. These work better to start at the higher end and discount slowly if they don't sell. So maybe 30, then 25, then 20, etc. These sell the least often though
Your Wolf Here - 30-45 GC depending on the base. Many artists I see selling their YWH's at like 15-20 gc and they get burnt out. If it's a good design, it'll sell at more. If you're worried, start it lower, and raise it everytime you sell 3 of that design. Icons work GREAT for these. I often see artists with cute YWH icons selling out quick.
Fullbodies - 40 - 80 gc. Maybe a bit more but I wouldn't go above 100 gc. You'll definitely need some good wolf examples if you want to sell this tier, as it's more pricey, so people must be really in love with your example pieces

Hope that helps!
