Instrumental Instruments~

Yo! Just wondering (since I don't think I've seen a thread on this yet), who here plays/knows how to play at least one instrument? If you don't, then what's your favourite instrument? Is it something you one day want to play?

For example, while I own a melodica and a flute I don't really know how to play either, though I am ok when using a tin whistle. My favourite instrument would have to be the harmonica though. I've also played the clarinet and violin before when I was younger, though I don't remember how to play anything on them.

I know how to play the flute pretty well! I can play the guitar.. sort of.. but only guitar tabs, not chords lol and I played the drums for a few years also. Not sure if I was any good but they were crazy fun. :P

Harmonic is a good one I agree, such an interesting instrument! It feels so old timey to me too. I think I'd most like to be able to play the piano, I've tried to learn but I never get very far. It's a serious skill that's for sure. <3

Eyyyy! I can also sort of play the guitar! I've only ever tried Drunken Sailor though, and even then that was pretty slow going -_-'

Man, I wish I was able to play drums! I've mucked around on a set I found at an event one time and only tried the beginning part of 'We Will Rock You'. I couldn't get the hang of anything else on it, darn my lack of dual hand co-ordination!

Oh yeah! Piano is a good one! Any instrument that requires two hands to do separate things (like the piano and drums) I've never been good at. I'd like to learn it though! It always sounds so pretty~

i play piano, violin, and drums! i started playing piano near the end of last year when i was still in hs, but i didn't actually get my own piano until sometime earlier this year. one piece i've been practicing a lot is toccata and fugue in d minor (bach).

violin i've played for 5(+? i always forget) years, sometime since middle school, but i didn't start taking it seriously until my freshman year of high-school. last performance i had with that was when i played in the pit orchestra for the addam's family, the last musical my school had before it closed due to.. y'know. i've been neglecting to practice it for a while now, but i'm hoping to pick it up again :^)

drums i haven't played in a really long time, but as i'm typing this my set is literally sitting behind me lmao. i never really get any time to play the drums just because of where i am, it would be too noisy. i hope to pick those up again at some point, too!

Wowowowow! Heck yeah for getting your own piano! That's so cool! The piano I have is never really played, partly because I can't, partly because my ma (who does play) doesn't have much time to.

HAHI! You played for the Addam's family?????????? That's so awesome whoa! What's it like in a pit-orchestra?? I see the name and instantly think of like. A pitfall trap. You totally should pick it up and play again! It's getting close to Halloween so now would be perfect! Give yourself (if you do go out)/your house (if you don't) theme music! I know if I passed a house with a tune going on I'd be like 'WHOA'.

Oh totally go for the drums again too when you can!

I play the french horn, the baritone/euphonium, and I can manage some trumpet (from playing flugelhorn, marching french horn).  I also play a tidge of piano, not super well though!  I also tend to have a hard time with any instrument that forces me to use both hands, hah!

I've owned and wanted to learn violin forever!  I was just about to look into classes when all of.... this... hit.  So hopefully after riding it out, the local music place will have survived it and I can hit them up!

I play 6 instruments, trombone, bass guitar, bari sax, piano, snare, and baritone. I play sax in my schools top jazz band and baritone in marching band. I also am planning on auditioning for winter drumline on snare and if I don't make it since we have a lot of amazing snare players I'm gonna do bass in pit hehe.

I'm really excited, I have a piano duet with my best friend on flute who also promised to teach me flute someday. I would love to learn bassoon though, they're my favorite instrument other than the ones I already play. I relate to not taking instruments seriously, I just kinda got by without putting much effort in my freshman year but now I'm putting in a lot of effort (usually about 2 hrs a day before school started) but now I only get to play 2 hrs every other day and practice about 1 hr every few days. I plan on practicing more when I get my license though, only about 3 weeks from now. It'll be easier because I'll be able to take my sax home. I'm really excited for all-state auditions too. I'm not too good at the etudes but oh well, I'm still gonna try.

Drums are really cool, I hope you get to pick it up again soon! Maybe check with your neighbors to see if there's a time where your drums wouldn't bother them?

I play piano and I eventually want to play the cello but since I already have a violin, I think I will learn that first and then eventually pay those several thousand dollars for a cello. Yes, playing the cello will be different, but I will have learned a lot of violin techniques that can be applied to the cello. I just love the soulfulness of the cello's tone.

Any other bagpipers around? I play Great Highland Bagpipes and fool around a little on smallpipes as well.

I'm also classically trained on violin and play bass guitar and ukulele.=)

For the drummer who can't be loud, have you looked into getting an electric set? It's no louder than tapping and you can find some used sets pretty decently priced.
