Roleplay Page | Character Sheets | OOC Thread

Pokemon: Tales of Nine is an on-site pokemon mystery dungeon RP. Due to this being a pokemon RP, there are certain limitations and rules surrounding character creation that must be understood and obeyed in order for the RP to proceed smoothly.

For context: all characters are starting off as brand new rescue teams after receiving an invitation from headmaster/guildmaster Ninetales! Your team is either brand new, or less than a week old.

NPCs: Most NPCs are shopkeepers and senior guild members that are likely to regularly interact with your character. As a result, they may be used minimally in your RP posts through simple interactions, such as training or trading. Their posts are not meant to be in-depth or numerous, as they are NOT player characters and are to be used essentially as props.

Admin NPCs: Off-limits. Your character may briefly mentioned them, but any content/interactions are to be carried out by a RP admin (20mia08) to ensure there are no interruptions to the plot/character of said NPC. The list of admin NPC/regular NPCs can be found in this character sheet section, as well as some brief information about them.

Character Creation Rules:

-Each user is allowed 2 characters.
-Each character must start off as their first evolution.
-Characters are NOT limited to mystery dungeon starting characters. Please ASK about using a certain pokemon in DMs or OOC! You wanna be a Caterpie? Please...please do. (Pokemon from any region is acceptable- regional forms are ok too)
-No legandaries, pseudo-legendaries, or shinies are permitted. Pokemon fushions are NOT allowed- pokemon must be species from the series.
-On this note: remember that pokemon species is determined by the female parent! Your pokemon may have parents that are separate species within the same egg group, but they must be the same species as the AFAB mother.
-Characters are allowed to be a shade darker/lighter, have unique eyes, or have unique markings to make them distinguishable.
-Do not powerplay. For RP purposes, characters are generally equal stat-wise. However, type differences still exist- a water pokemon will have an advantage against a fire pokemon.
-Gimmicks do not exist. There is no mega-evolutions, terrastalizing, etc.
-Your personality section must include a short paragraph (5 sentences minimum) description.
-Be effortful in your character sheets. This roleplay is on the literate side- prove to me that you're willing to meet the standards!
-Rules are subject to change- pokemon RPs are pretty unique, so it's hard getting a feel for appropriate rules.
-PLEASE SEE THE CHARACTER LIMITS BELOW!

Character Limitations

To prevent us from having 500 Eevees, we are imposing limitations on relatively popular pokemon. The universe is diverse! This limitation applies to total characters. I.e: there can only be 2 active pichu characters at a time.

Starters: 2 starters of each species. (i.e 2 totodiles, 2 mudkips, etc)
  • Charmander: 1/2

Eevee: 3 total at a time. [1/3]
Riolu: 1 total at a time. [0/1]
Zorua: 1 total at a time. [0/1]
Pichu: 2 total at a time. [0/2]
Vulpix: 1 total at a time; unrelated to headmaster Ninetales. [0/1]

Name: Ember
Species: Charmander
Ability: Blaze
Gender Female [she/her]
Orientation: Pansexual
Starting Level: Level 7
Team: Fearless
Team Color: Cornflower
Partner: Sidus
Personality:
+++ Compassionate, steadfast, courageous
// Stubborn, selfless
--- Flamboyant, defensive, erratic

The spirit of this Charmander is perhaps more fiery than the tip of her tail. Ember has a tendency to be a little too...."over the top" for most, especially her mother. She's a frequent creator of headaches with her unpredictable behavior, which makes her almost impossible to control. In addition, attempting to get into an argument with Ember over her behavior is a lost cause- hell, getting in an argument with her period is a fool's errand. Ember's mind is like a steel trap, that is, swaying her from what she wants to do is nearly impossible. She's painfully stubborn, yet, sometimes it comes as a blessing by making her unwaveringly determined in completing tasks that might seem unfeasible to most.

She's a steadfast friend. You'd have better luck prying the skull off of a Cubone than making Ember abandon her friends. She stands by her ideals in addition to being loyal to her favorite companions. Once you gain her friendship, it's a little hard to get rid of her- maybe that's more of a curse than a blessing. However, behind her hot-headed and unpredictable behavior is a Charmander that's willing to go remarkable lengths for her friends, and for the betterment of pokemon kind. She's got good bones, this one. It's just a matter of withstanding her flamboyant nature...and her bite.

Description: For a Charmander, she's on the smaller side. She's darker than most and has turquoise eyes in addition to light freckles upon her face. As a hallmark of her team, Ember wears a cornflower blue bandana.
Relationships:
Sizzle: mother; living [Charizard NPC]
Fitz: father; living [Feraligatr NPC]
Sidus: best friend; living [Eevee, 20mia08]
Backstory:
Ember was born and raised by Sizzle and Fitz, which most viewed as a particularly odd couple. They said opposites attract, but...a water pokemon with a fire pokemon? Either way, the couple lived a happy life as berry farmers in Tiny Town. A fire pokemon settling and raising a family around a town comprised mostly of bugs wasn't ideal, but...Sizzle had eventually settled in, so surely her daughter would as well.

They lived on the outskirts, growing a prized clutch of berries. Fitz's family had always been family farmers, but his great great grandfather was said to have been a hero on a rescue team. These stories always inspired Ember, but Sizzle was intent on now allowing her husband to fill their daughter's head with dangerous dreams. Truth be told, Sizzle had secretly been on a rescue team some years prior. However, there was a gruesome accident, and she honorably stepped down. Although Ember eventually uncovered the truth of her mother's history, it's a topic Sizzle still refuses to discuss.

Ember couldn't settle as a berry farmer, there was always something greater calling her. While she did enjoy learning about the berries and their properties, it was simply too...mediocre for her. Her family regularly traveled with her to Heart Town to sell berries, and it was there as a young pokemon that she met Sidus. Almost instantly, their friendship took off.

The two played whenever Ember and her family visited, and as they grew, Ember constantly mentioned starting a rescue team together. Sidus was nervous- he knew his mother would be furious. After all, she barely let him scamper beyond the perimeter of the guild. She'd never let him join a rescue team and venture off into a dungeon.

But as they aged, Ember continued to push. They were best friends- besides, she promised she'd keep him safe. Nervously, he agreed, and Ember promptly declared to Ninetales that she'd be starting her own rescue team. Of course, if she knew that Sidus was on it, that would never fly...so naturally, Ember never revealed her partner until Ninetales formalized her rescue team, team Fearless. Ninetales, naturally, was furious when she discovered that Sidus had gone behind her back. But he (skittishly) promised they'd stay out of harm's way. Besides, most rescue missions were filtered through Ninetales and Cheri first, so surely she'd never let Sidus head off into a dangerous mission...

The duo have had their rescue team officially for 3 days.

Name: Sidus
Species: Eevee
Gender: Male [he/him]
Orientation: Demisexual
Ability: Adaptability
Starting Level: Level 5
Team: Fearless
Team Color: Cornflower
Partner: Ember
Personality:
+++
//
---

Description: Sidus is pretty runty, even for an Eevee (which gives him a painfully high risk of being accidentally trampled by larger pokemon). His cream ruff is tipped with white, and he has an unruly tuft of cream fur behind his ear. He has darkened paws and ears, in addition to a white spot between his eyes. Speaking of, his eyes are not typical of most Eevees- they're the color of spring greens.
Relationships:
Headmaster Ninetales: adopted mother; living [Admin NPC]
Ember: best friend; living [Charmander; 20mia08]
Backstory:
He remembers the warmth of the Headmaster's room, and the sun streaming in the window when he first hatched. Headmaster Ninetales was everything that Sidus has known, and for a long time, he really did believe with all of his heart that Ninetales was his birth mother. He lived a sheltered life out of Ninetales' peculiar paranoia, often refusing to let him leave the Guild within his first few months of life. For some time, the Headmaster neglected her duty in exchange for obsessively watching over her "son". Cheri was particularly concerned, but for some time, the Headmaster refused to even trust him with the protection of Sidus.

Over time, her paranoia began to wear off, and Sidus earned a little more freedom. He didn't mind being cooped up for so long, really- he loved his mother, and he loved being with her. In addition, he was skittish from the get-go and had no desire to get out there and explore. Slowly, curiosity did get the best of him.

It was one of his first times out of the Guild that he met Ember. He had gotten overwhelmed by the size of Heart Town and tried to flee for the Guild, only to stumble and injure his paw. The flamboyant Charmander had given him a berry from her family's store to make him feel better. Her loudness and energy were...frightening, to say the least, but she was still nice. The two became friends, mostly because Ember forced him to be her friend.

He told her practically right-off the bat that he was the son of the Headmaster. At this point, Sidus had finally come to accept that he was definitely adopted- pokemon inherited their mother's species, after all. However, the revelation of his parentage seemed to make Ember want a rescue team even more. Maybe she was using him at first, but it became apparent that Ember was very fond of shy little Sidus. And admittedly, he'd come to enjoy her presence as well. She made him brave- or at least, made him try to be brave.

Until they finalized their rescue team and Ember secured her dreams. No, he wasn't brave anymore then- he was terrified, actually. His mother would be furious, but Ember just (maniacally) laughed it off. At first, Ninetales was furious, but it all seemed to be out of fear and love for her adopted son. Her paranoia was something that Sidus could never understand, as most parents weren't as much as a helicopter as Ninetales was. Yet, what was done was done. Sidus begged his mother to not dissolve the team. The whole rescue concept petrified him, but he didn't want to ruin his friendship with Ember. He had to be brave- he had to be brave for her.

Their team has been official for 3 whole days. Sidus is still terrified, but at least it makes Ember happy.

Name: Tarot
Species: Espurr
Gender: Female [She/Her]
Orientation: Demiromantic (In other words, I'm going to play it out and see what happens.)
Ability: Keen Eye
Starting Level: Level 5
Team: Dreamy
Team Color: A blue-purple that seems to be a slightly darker and more saturated hue than Espurr's fur.
Partner: Loam, Johto Wooper
Personality: Tarot is a creature of few words. Unless directly spoken to, she is most often found staring intently, unblinkingly ahead. She is a great listener but can easily be misunderstood as aloof and uncaring. When communicating with her, she tends to respond with action or gestures. If she meets someone impatient with her silence, she can really struggle with making a connection with them. Her team partner, Loam, regularly volunteers as her voice. This can be for better or for worse.
Description: An expressionless Espurr. She is slightly smaller than average size. Her purple team bandana is tied so that the knot is at the back of her neck and sticks out around her fur.
Relationships:
Apollo, Meowstic, Father (might only reference)
Eclipse, Meowstic, Mother (might only reference)
Loam, Wooper, Friend
Backstory:
Tarot's parents are some of the landowners of "Friend Areas," or private estates based on type for those looking to buy safe places to live. They also help support young Pokémon looking to create rescue teams. Apollo, Tarot's father, and Eclipse, Tarot's mother, hit it off on a large scale rescue mission of the past. An earthquake caused Pokémon to become trapped under rubble, and the two had teamed up with local teams as volunteers. Together they used their psychic abilities to lift these trapped and injured Pokémon to safety. They have stuck by each other's side ever since.

Under the caring education of her parents, Tarot was encouraged to do everything she could to help others. Ultimately she could do whatever her dream was, but her parents work allowed her to silently witness all sorts of individuals make an effort for a better life. For a long time, she feared someone as awkward as herself couldn't be a big hero. She didn't have the psychic power or ease of conversation like her parents.

One day, during their travels to see how their communities were holding up, the small family was in the swamps outside of Murky Town. The waters had been rising and flooding the land. Apollo and Eclipse were checking on homes and found that, for the most part, the water types couldn't be happier. This had been a routine trip and Tarot, becoming bored, wandered to the edge of town to look around. She was knocked over almost immediately by a frantic Wooper. He introduced himself as Loam and blurted out that he was looking for his father. He hadn't seen him for a few days now and had left home to search for himself. Tarot just patted his nervous head gently and silently led him to her parents.

They looked for some time around Murky Town but the Quagsire wasn't in sight. Loam's frantic searching turned to a depressed frustration. They eventually had to leave, the family taking Loam with them to Heart Town for safety. He lingered in their little house, large head down, pacing as his feet slorped on the floor. Tarot had watched him carefully and suddenly left him, returning with some spare rescue team bandanas her parents kept from their volunteer days. She held one out to him, asking him to join her without words. Loam smiled and accepted, allowing her to tie the purple bandana around his neck.

Her parents were thrilled. They took the young ones to Ninetails right away to become official. At this point in time, they have only been a team for about a week. They have not gone on any missions, and they are eager to travel and keep their eyes open for Loam's dad.
Current Move List:
•Scratch
•Leer
•Covet
•Endure
Other: Might add to later.

Name: Loam
Species: Wooper
Gender: Male [He/Him]
Orientation: Demiromantic (In other words, I'm going to play it out and see what happens.)
Ability: Water Absorb
Starting Level: Level 5
Team: Dreamy
Team Color: A blue-purple that seems to be a slightly darker and more saturated hue than Espurr's fur.
Partner: Tarot, Espurr
Personality: Loam's mouth works a lot quicker than his brain. He speaks frequently and can appear a bit simple due to not being able to articulate his thoughts, even though he is of at least average intelligence. His attention can be quickly grabbed and he has some difficulty staying on task. Memories can be fleeting, sometimes even important ones. When characters introduce themselves, he may not remember their names at first. He deeply appreciates Tarot, who simply listens and doesn't embarrass him by correcting him. Essentially a friendly little Wooper with ADHD as an inspiration to how he functions. A major positive is that he's good with action and lives in the moment.
Description: A standard 1'4" Wooper with the long head growths typical of identifying a male Wooper. He has a huge mouth and it is usually open. He wears a matching purple bandana to Tarot's, which is tied in a bow behind her head.
Relationships:
Basalt, Quagsire, Father
Tarot, Espurr, Friend
Backstory:
Loam has spent all of his life living with his single father, Basalt the Quagsire, in Murky Town. The two had a very comfortable and trusting bond, and often kept to themselves as long as each returned in the evening for supper. Loam's troubles started when he came home one day… and Basalt wasn't there. No problem, he thought at first, they didn't always match their curfew. So he waited. And waited. The sun set and rose, set and rose. Nearing three days since he had gone missing, Loam left their mud den to look for him. He became more nervous the more he looked. His feet moved himself forward as fast as he could manage, and he barreled into an Espurr. She didn't say more than her name, Tarot, in a soft voice and took him to her parents. Together the four looked around town. Again, they found nothing.

Loam followed the Meowstics and their daughter into their home for safety. As much as he would have liked to stay in his own home, it was deemed unsafe for him. He appreciated this family. He really did. It was just hard to see anything past jealousy at a small family all together, and it made him rather sad. Although Loam tried to keep this to himself, he knew Tarot noticed. One day she padded up to him with rescue team bandanas.
"To look for my dad?" He asked. Tarot nodded and gave him a small smile.

Tarot's parents were thrilled about their partnership. They escorted them to Ninetails right away to become official. At this point in time, they have only been a team for about a week. They have not gone on any missions, and they are eager to travel and keep their eyes open for Loam's dad.
Current Move List:
•Water Gun
•Tail Whip
•Toxic
•Protect
Other: Might add to later.

Name: Flake(Snowflake)
Species: Alolan Vulpix
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Orientation: Lesbian
Ability: Snow Cloak
Starting Level: 7
Team: Hail Or Thunder
Team Color: Teal
Partner: Jolt
Personality: [minimum of 3 positives, 2 neutrals, 3 negatives. Brief paragraph description of 5 sentences is required...remember that physical traits like "swift" aren't personality traits]

+An optomist
+sweet
+always sees the best in people
/loves food
/she talks a lot
-naive
-scared of any bug/poison types
-shy

Flake is a bright and friendly pokemon, who has a sweet shyness about her. Though she always sees the best in people, this makes her naive, making her an easy target for any mind games. Its easy to play with her emotions . . . she talks a lot, making her seem annoying to some pokemon, resulting in her being shy in herself and usually staying quiet around pokemon who she doesnt know. She has an odd fear of bug types and an understandable fear of poison types, seeing as they killed her father when she was young. In addition to her always seeing the best in people and being naive, she's an optomist, always making the best of a bad situation. She loves food. A lot.

Description: at first glance she's a regular Alolan Vulpix, but with a closer look she has faint green markings around the base of her tails up to the curve, faint green boot markings and the hair ontop of her head has the same faint lime green color, and her eyes are the color of the most vibrent emerald.

Backstory: Born into a happy family with 2 sisters, Flake lived a calm and happy life. That was, until, her dad was killed by a poison spray attack from an unknown pokemon. Not long after Flake lost her mother in a hail storm, causing her to want to become a rescue pokemon.
Current Move List: [4 moves at a time, must be within reason given the pokemon's type]
-Blizzard
-Weather Ball
-Powder Snow
-Dark Pulse

Other: lemme know if anything needs changed? Working on Jolt's sheet next!
