See trade up journey below! ========================================================================== Hello all. I'm starting a challenge for myself to trade up to see how far I can get. With what you may ask?  The humble acorn. I'm going to start with this acorn and either give it to an animal in explore for something else or trade it for something in trading. With the thing I get with that, I will trade it up again. And again. Until, finally, I get the furthest I possibly can. Currently, I'm aiming for a base. I will update as I get more things. Wish me luck. Update 1: 12/23/22 Accidentally played with the acorn lol. Currently procuring new acorn. Update 2: 12/23/22  First trade up! Technically, the person was offering the recipes for free and I insisted trading the acorn but I'll take it. Update 3: 12/24/22   It's not looking good, folks. I thought that recipe would get at least some traction but no one wants it. But I shall not give in!!! I have enlisted the help of a bud and also made posts on different forums. I persevere, but at what cost?  Update 4: 12/24/22 Unbelievable. I can't believe I've managed this. I thought for sure that trade offer was going to get rejected. Update 5: 12/24/22 I have decided that I need to start seeing if I can get multiple things in trade in hopes that a wombo combo will eventually combine together to trade up to something cool. This is what we got to work with:  I've seen people reverse stud their females and that's what she is so I think with so many event attributes and things like that, hopefully somebody will bite and at that point there will be the items traded for the reverse studding AND the puppies. Here is the reverse studding post. Wish me luck. Update 6: 12/25/22 Merry Christmas! No responses on the reverse studding post as of rn, going into wanted:wolves to see what I can find. I've also posted in chat to see if it's even worth it.  Update 7: 12/26/22After getting some ~expert advice~ that I just need to find the right person to reverse stud, I've got... nothing. :D I'm not giving up tho I can definitely see this avenue working. Also, anyone message me if you wish to reverse stud and be part of The Real Project Acorn™ and get the wonderful experience of nothing but making me a little happier! Update 8: 12/27/22 I am bumping all I can bump and i have heard nothing. I am about to get  Annoying and message people directly. This may sound like a new low, but I have already stooped to this for acorn and recipe. I am above NOTHING.My strategy at this point is as follows: her (the wolf I currently have for project acorn) stats are currently 376. I am beginning to apprentice her with different hunting positions to get her well rounded, or at least kinda rounded in some areas. When she becomes an adult, if I have no leads, I'll either send her scouting (not preferable but u gotta do what u gotta do) or ill stick her in a hunting party. From there, I'm hoping her marks and stats will get her there. Know what, maybe I should advertise her stats? Hm. Before anyone says to add markings or a base to her, that is not the spirit of the project. Quit that. Get out of my head. Update 9: 12/27/22 WE GOT OUR FIRST REVERSE STUDDING LEAD LETS GOOOOOOOOOO Now we just have to wait for this  in 12 rollovers. Or wait for an aging crystal. But again is that really in the spirit of the project? Update 10: 12/28/22 I have done some calculations because I could not easily find a post about the approximate presence of random mutations in the general wolf pop. This is a huge big guess based on little data that I am estimating from, but I believe that there is, in general, a .05% chance that a pup will be born with a random mutation. I worked this out because if I can swing a random mutation in one of the pups, THAT will bring me very close to the home run. - 2 pups = .1% chance - 3 pups = .15% chance - 4 pups = .2% chance - 5 pups = .25% chance - 6 pups = .3% chance Sooooo based on all that its looking really unlikely, but a chance nonetheless! In addition, all attributes of Deja are either event or raffle with the exception of her base, which is TII. I recognize that most reverse studding results in the pups being owned by the stud's pack (in this instance I have explained that muties I will keep which is why I calculated my chances) either way whether the desirable traits pass or not, but its still something to consider. Also, did my math wrong. We got 8 more rollovers till Deja's first heat. Now we wait. Update 11: 12/30/22 No true updates, I'm afraid. All I have to say is that I'm bumping Deja's reverse studding post again so that I don't have all my eggs in one basket. It'll get more interesting when she's of age. Update 12: 12/31/22 I striked thru the chances of the previous update because those are not the chances per wolf, but per pack. And its not even a definite guess anyway, so who knows? All I know is that Deja is *checks watch* 5 rollovers from this being a possibility. Even if there are no muties, I will still have more than one thing and I will be in good shape. Provided my reverse stud request doesn't fall through. Ay ay ay. Update 13: 1/1/23 Happy New Year! According to Deja's pup training totals (which will give her +6 stats), Deja is pretty damn close to 400 stats. I'm not sure if apprenticing gives any extra stats upon aging up to an adult but I guess we'll find out. I think that this is pretty cool because breaking that 400 mark will make her more desirable, especially if that lead falls through. Again, not much else to say. Four more rollovers. Update 14: 1/4/23 One more rollover!!! Just messaged the reverse studding lead again to confirm. Update 15: 1/5/23  Been looking at this all day on my message :/ so she is an adult at this point and ready to breed, but my lead hasn't responded. I was afraid this would happen! If they don't read in a day or two, I'm going to readvertise. Any advice? Update 16: 1/6/23 We got a response! Awesome because that person was so sweet lol. Should have another update today :) Update 17: 1/6/23  Just got the trade! Got this and the cost of the stud, so the stud request has been sent! So that means I've got... THIS! Neat! I think I've officially broken the barrier of what I could realistically trade for a single acorn. I now have a quadruple merle t2 and a cryptid event decor! I've also done some scrying as to what the pups may look like (altho I likely won't be keeping any lol.)   They don't look crazy but I have high hopes! She's just been scried for 5 puppies!! Cannot WAIT for them to be born :) Update 18: 1/7/23 I am still trying to go with my idea of expanding this project out to multiple items so that I can increase the probability of succeeding. While Deja is pregnant, I am going to scour the forums to look for someone who is looking for any cryptid event decor, which is what the other thing I have is. It doesn't look very cryptid-y, but it'll have to do.  I'm not sure what I'll do after Deja gives birth. Obviously, she will enter a breeding cooldown, but I'm not sure whether I should wait and breed her again. I'm leaning toward doing so, but that all depends on how it goes and how my other item does as far as trading up. Again, any advice appreciated, because I didn't even know that merle markings are really hard to get! Update 19: 1/7/23 THIS JUST IN! Idk how I've done it but I have another lead on reverse studding! I would love to take the time at this moment just to say again: Thank you to everyone who has knowingly or unknowingly participated with me in this project :) It is so fun and wouldn't be possible without you! Update 20: 1/10/23 This is what dreams are made of. That's the most interesting of the pups, but there are 4 more with merle and 1 that unfortunately has no markings and a t1 base. I'm just about to message the person who studded to let them know the good knews! Now it's only a matter of time before we can get another reverse breeding going. About the other item, the decor: I haven't found anyone willing to trade for it yet, but I haven't looked exceedingly hard because I have been preoccupied with Deja. Now that she has given birth, maybe I will tap into my Annoying abilities once more. Only time will tell.Update 21: 1/10/23 I'm keeping two of the puppies! They were two of my favorite for sure. Here they are:   One is another quad merle like mama! And the other is a tri merle tII. I'm not 100% sure where I'm going to go from here and I am running out of space in my pack so I'm likely not going to be able to keep them long, so the pressure's on! I'm going to see if I can price check them in forums or chat and see where that will take me. Still no leads atm for the decor, but again I haven't truly unleashed my Annoying yet so more on that later.Update 22: 1/12/23 It's not what you know it's who you know folks! Here's what I got in trade for the decor:   I went the breeding item route because I have had luck before trading breeding items! (Thank u to my rp bud for trading  ). So, here's the skinny. I think what I'm going to try to aim for are gold cones or their equivalent in silver (I'm going to use gc for the math to make it easier), so at this point I'm going to start quantifying things in how much they are being listed for in tc in gold cones. As far as my goal of getting a base applicator, mostly what I'm finding is that the reasonably lowest base applicator I can find is 35 gc. This is how my current items are shaking out:
According to that, at this point we are at 26gc, 9gc short of my estimated trade value to get a base applicator. That means we are about 3/4 of the way there! Very excited at how fast this is moving :) Update 23: 1/12/23  Go big or go home yall. Update 24: 1/15/23 Okay well, no surprise, trade offer rejected! That's alright tho because at least we tried. The puppies that were waiting to be sent have been sent now and I am currently training the remaining (rhyme ha) puppies to up their value!  This is what we have as far as reverse breeding her again, which like I said excitingly we will be able to do! Now, I have an awful memory and I have deleted the message, but I have reason to believe that I will be compensated in silver cones based on how many pups end up with merle which I will just turn around and invest into gold cones so let's just call it 1gc per merle puppy. Again, rough estimate based on what I remember and not sure if it will be more depending on how many marks are passed, but let's go with it. It is at this point that my genius shows. There is more than one reason I traded one of the items I got for breeding items. Especially with 2 black sage, I can guarantee 4 puppies if I so choose. If we have the same luck as last time and one gets no marks, we have an estimate of 3gc on the way in approximately 20 rollovers--this doesn't replace the estimate for black sage so its gonna need to get more clear that that for me to decide to do that. The future is unclear at the moment. I have a breeding-based raffle up that is gathering some attention so I was toying with the idea of having a raffle with the 2 black sages and great tit in the meantime, but my current one does have more and higher quality items in it so again that remains to be seen. I would likely only have currency options for it in the interest of not having a ton of items, but I may include a few items for entry on it if I go that way. As for the pups, I have no idea what to do with them. This is a really long shot but I considered raising and chasing them both to see if I can get them back as G1 because I know that will make them much more marketable. Only time will tell. Update 25: 1/16/23  Alright--I'm trying a little bit of a different approach. I'm submitting these 2 to see if I can get a custom decor. Lots of people like them (including me lol) and I think that I can find a lot of options of trade from certain custom decors. Not sure how this offer will turn out, but we've gotten lucky just blind offering before.14 rollovers until Deja can breed again. Update 26: 1/16/23    ^15gc------------------^10gc------------------^3gc---------------^1gc--------------------^1gc------------------= 30gc We got a full use Leopard Mask Custom Decor!!! I just based the worth of it on how much the decor costs, which is 15 gc (this is also how much it was being sold for). This may be an overestimate as I realize that the custom decor designers price things with the fact that 5gc will not go to them in mind, BUT NO MATTER! I have seen plenty of posts for custom decor swaps and I think that this may be my go to for this item in particular. Moreover, with this new addition, we are only 6 gc away from my estimate for a base applicator! I hesitate to say that this is the home stretch because I feel like even thinking that is going to bring me to a standstill somehow, but we are definitely a lot closer than with just an acorn! Update 27: 1/20/23 I have been slacking a bit on the project just due to real life events, but I hatched a quick idea.  This is my offer on a trade for sentinel pose. Now, the custom decor I have is only for sentinel wolves. My train of thought is that I could potentially market them together as a bundle--make your wolf a sentinel and have them have a neat custom decor too! If this offer doesn't take, I may throw in the black sage but I am hesitant to do that before reverse breeding Deja again. We shall see. 10 rollovers until Deja can breed again. Update 28: 1/24/23 Small update: I have withdrawn the trade and put the same thing on a sentinel recipe instead. Maybe it'll take? 6 rollovers for Deja! Update 29: 1/30/23 This dry spell is killer!! Deja is on her first day in heat, but no message back at the moment from the reverse stud lead. I may have to advertise her again! As for the other things, Project (her pup) is not getting much traction and has been returned to me in numerous offers, and she (I think its a she) is pretty close to being an adult. I'm thinking the best option at this point is to raise and chase, then see if she comes back around as a gen 1. If not, well that's less space taken up. I haven't looked around as much for trading of the other items, mostly due to life and partially due to wanting to see how the next reverse stud goes. But, new idea alert! I have the recipe to make sentinel pose now! Since the custom decor I have is only for sentinel and sentinel as a pose itself get me extremely close to trading for a base, I think I will endeavor to try to trade for the rest of the items I need to craft sentinel, which are: Glowing spores x10, Wolf skull x 2, and Wolf Tail x 3. I could try to raffle for these, but in my experience I don't have the best of luck with raffles. Alright! If I can't get a response from the reverse stud lead by rollover, I'm advertising selling her heat! Update 30: 1/31/23   We got that wombo combo deluxe and now we have the sentinel pose at the expense of Project, a Black Sage, and a Great Tit! I do realize that I didn't trade for absolutely everything to make the sentinel pose, but everything I have for it I didn't trade for at all so I got it free essentially. I believe that counts. Deja is now pregnant by the stud, but honestly at this point I don't even think it matters! I think that combined a sentinel pose and the decor I have is 40gc and that is plenty to get a base applicator! The most likely candidates are:   But, I will see what I can get! I already have 2 clover based wolves, so I'm not leaning hard into that one--it is the easiest to get from what I've seen however. Get excited!  Update 31: 1/31/23  We do everything bigger in TexasUpdate 32: 2/2/23 No response as far as the offer I made on the trade above. It might get me closer to finishing the project if I simply offer on a base that isn't as expensive, but I just love the Diana base so fucking much. So there it will stay for right now. Deja is going to give birth next rollover and I have been informed only one of the pups is going to be taken! So, that means I will have 3 more pups to play around with. Those pups will be 6th gen as opposed to 10th gen like the other pups, so hopefully it will be easier for them to have trade value for that reason. I haven't done the breakdown in a while of what we have in gold cones, so here you go: Deja (1gc) + Puppies (~3gc) + Leopard Mask (15gc) + Sentinel Pose (25gc) = 44gc! |

Truly, I have no update! I haven't received a response about Deja's puppies and when they wean, I'll message again and if I get no response I'll just sell them I suppose! No response on the offer on the base applicator either, so maybe they'll go into that! Or I'll finally give up and settle for another base applicator (not likely)  Update 34: 2/7/23   Alright, so I did withdraw the offer on the Diana base applicator to make another offer with my own stuff and just moved the custom decor and sentinel pose to a clover base applicator and IT WENT THRU MY BOY!!!!!!!!!! This officially ends project acorn! Here are the rules I was following in case anyone wants to try back home:
