☆ Raymond Monet ☆

Raymond, being the oblivious man he was, had absolutely no clue about the way Byx was reacting to him. He surveyed the students that were still staring in awe at the dragons, shaking his head with a small smile on his face. He had his arms crossed over his chest, tapping his foot impatiently. He needed to be back with the dragons, somewhere without children around.

He grinned at Neha, holding his hand out only halfway so she could come to him herself. His family had been training for being around dragons for generations, waiting for the dragons to come back. He had been trained from birth with techniques passed down from father and mother to son and daughter. So, he knew enough that he had to be hesitant. Even if the dragon was familiar with you.

[ Ilia / Kyrena ]

Ilia smirked at the oblivious Raymond compared to the unusually nervous Byx but smoothed out her face soon enough, looking back to Kyrena. "Yes, Kyrena was not very impressed that Neha had grabbed the bison first." she replied quietly before he went on. At the coffee remark, she sighed lightly, turning to the students. "Could always make it a lesson. How to socialise and shop as though you aren't learning and bonding with rather illegal creatures. But first of all... getting through today."

Raising her voice, she smiled, clapping her hands together. "Good morning everyone! I'm fairly sure everyone is outside. I hope you've all slept well." Ilia took a deeper breath, trying to see where everyone was. Nyx was really the only one not terribly close but hopefully she'd move in soon.

Kyrena, uninterested in the other events, swung her heavy head at Neha's side in a playful manner, moving away from the adults. The new young ones weren't terribly interesting and if this was what Ilia would be focusing on today Kyrena would much rather be tearing through the skies with Neha and Daenerys.

❖ Byxem Arros • Neha

As Raymond reached his hand out, Neha leaned forward, sniffing his hand, before pressing her snout to his palm. A low rumbling sound emanated from deep in her chest, almost like a purr. Byx glanced over at the two, smiling. At the mention of Kyrena being upset, Byxem couldn't help but laughing, a surprisingly nice sound. "Ah, yes, well, it pays to be quick, eh?" Byxem chuckled, shaking their head. "It would do them some good. I'm sure they'd be good at it. They seem quiet enough."

As Ilia turned and clapped her hands together, Byx wiped the smile off of their face. Be stern. Be smart. Stay calm. They stood up straighter, folding their arms behind back and lifting their chin. They looked down their hooked nose to the other students as they stepped beside Ilia, a little behind. She was, after all, the founder. They knew how to respect those in power.

Neha, however, was completely absorbed in playing with Kyrena. Stepping back and away from Raymond, she let out a joyful growl as Kyrena swung her head into her side. She flared her wings, not too wide, and opened her mouth to let her forked tongue to loll out. Crouching like a dog might (if it only had two legs), Neha wagged her tail and began jumping around. The ground shook each time she thumped down, but not enough to knock anyone over. This was much more exciting than watching little children!

♤ Evangeline Avalonia ♤

She paused as she saw a student wave at her, lifting her hand hesitantly to wave back. There was a war going on inside of her, telling her she shouldn't have waved back and that something bad was going to happen now. She took a deep breath, shaking her head. Dont overreact, dont make friends, stay calm. 3 of her many rules. Evangeline rubbed the back of her neck, face creased in frustration. She wondered if she would be able to keep that second rule, especially if everyone was nice.

Eden's last words echoed in her head, Stay safe. How would she be able to stay safe if she made friends? She had no idea who they were, what their backgrounds were. "Oh god.. this is going to be extremely difficult." She whispered to herself, frowning.

Evangeline pushed that all away, moving in closer to the headmaster's but still staying a good distance away from the other students.

He smiled as Neha put her snout in his hand, giving her a few scratches under the chin. "Good girl." He cooed, smiling brighter. He chuckled as she went to mess around with Kyrena, crossing his arms over his chest once more. His face went void of emotion as the Headmasters started announcing things to the students. To be honest? He never really listened to what they said, it didnt have anything to do with him. He only tuned in if he heard something important.

{Aybis}

At the sight of the dragons Aybis's fear melted to excitement. They felt emboldened by their presence, and glanced curiously around at the other students.

Most were still distracted by the wyverns, and Aybis wondered where they came from, what they were like. They wondered if they'd ever be friends if any of them.

They huffed, amused at these ponderings. They once more turned their attention towards the dragons, leaning on an old, knarled tree, awaiting instructions from the headmasters.

Caisin

Caisin was too caught up admiring the big black dragon before him, he had almost forgotten why he was looking for the headmaster. Oh, oh, right my room! He said inwardly. Once again shaking his head to clear his racing thoughts, he started off in headmaster Ilia's direction. He hadn't made it very far when he saw that she was joined by two other adults. Presumably the other Headmasters if he had to guess…And one of them rather lacking in the clothing department… He thought, suddenly now a little embarrassed as he looked away; not having time to glean much more information about them as his face flushed. The other was tall and thin, not unlike his own gangly body, complete with the same black hair. They stood slightly hunched over with a cane, most likely someone older in age. With the teachers now occupied, he didn't want to interrupt over something as small as his room. After all, if you'd come on time you'd already know all this. He chastised himself silently. Taking another look around, he decided to sit and wait on the steps leading into the building.

As he walked over and settled on the steps, he was met by another pleasant surprise! He got to watch as another dragon swooped into the clearing. This one was much smaller and graceful than the second, and a beautiful blend of grey and blue, with piercing, intense blue eyes! Their arrival was followed by sounds not unlike thunder crackling as their wings beat. He always admired lithe and fast animals and this wyvern appeared to be the pure embodiment of speed and danger. He could only hope with bubbling excitement that if everything went well and he got his own dragon, they would be just as beautiful and fearsome!

Caisin watched as the two started playing, taking note of their stances and their reactions when interacting with eachother. He quickly tore off the knapsack around his back as he was hit with an idea, his excitement barely contained as he furiously dug around in the bag. Eventually he pulled out what he was searching for; a piece of parchment and a pencil. He started drawing with a fervent energy, quickly scribbling crude drawings of saddle ideas and designs on the paper; carefully taking note of things it would need, or of extra things he could add, all while even more ideas popped into his head. How long until i could ride mine? Do you think they'd let us make our saddles? What are their names? Could i ask to pet one of them? No, you'd probably lose your arm stupid!

His thoughts once again were interrupted when he heard Headmaster Ilia raise her voice to call everyone's attention. He threw his head from side to side, taking note of new people appearing around the area. Someone on the fringes of the forest with red hair, another one standing off to the side, he had blond hair and an uninterested look to him. There was someone else, a girl it looked like. She had black hair too. I guess that must be common here. He smiled inwardly, as he quickly stuffed the smudged paper and pencil back into his pack, not wanting to seem like he wasn't paying attention. With the bag settled and stuffed to the side, he leaned forward to eagerly listen to what Ilia was beginning to say.

۝ Ilia || Kyrena  ۝

Kyrena gave a flap of her wings, pushing away from the ground and managing to lift herself just into the air. She hit the ground heavily, still not quite careful enough with the weaker humans as Ilia shakes on her feet, laughing quietly as Kyrena launches herself into the air properly. She sent a playful snap at the other wyvern, rising into the air with the humans easily forgotten.

Ilia, after properly righting herself, shook her head with a soft grin and looked back to the gathered students. "Well! That was Kyrena, my bonded. Rather forgetful when it comes to the fragility of us, but otherwise a sweet girl. Neha is Headmaster Arros's own." She paused, checking to see if Laurent was around. "And, while they aren't here right now, Headmaster Hall and their wyvern, will be around sometime today. And last but most certainly not least is Raymond, wyvern handler and all round helper. Are there any questions so far?"

While waiting for an answer, Ilia half retreated to her own thoughts. What needed to be done? The cover of mist - once the younger ones were mostly asleep or at least in the dorms, they really ought to replenish the cover. Good thing the climate already had heavy mist, it was easy to add and usually held up around the mountains. It'd give a chance to make sure the saddles all fit - Kyrena was mostly finished growing but young Neha had more spines growing and Ilia needed to make sure she wouldn't be uncomfortable. Daenerys... oh god, Ilia couldn't even remember what may need to be fixed. Hopefully Laurent would come back soon enough.

Setting up the actual classes, discussing what supplies would be needed. Not everyone may know how to read and write, that was a privilege reserved for mainly higher born children. Books would need to be set out.

Rules perhaps? The basics but Byx and Laurent may have ideas... they could talk later.

Leaving the list behind, she fully focused on the outside world. Of course, she hadn't written anything down, so any of those thoughts that had occurred in those few seconds may be lost but no matter. Just have to see how everything goes.

❖ Byxem Arros • Neha

Neha let out another joyful crackle, whipping her tail. It snapped loudly against the ground, sending up a cascade of soil (luckily, it didn't land on anyone), and she jumped into the air, following Kyrena. She soared past, barely clipping her with her tail, letting out a cackle, and turned to watch her reaction, eyes glinting.

Byxem was used to these frivolous antics, but they couldn't help but glance up. It made them happy to see Neha happy; it made them think that what they were doing was right, like abandoning their family and king was worth it. No, no, now was not the time to pity oneself. They had work to do. They stood straighter, looking back to the children, who were now beginning to flock to the headmasters. They could feel their heart beat faster as the kids watched them with eager eyes, examining them. They always hated those looks, like they were being scrutinized.

Focus. Don't get lost. Stay calm.

Gods, they wished Neha was still here. She always calmed them down. They could easily focus on her, like an anchor in a hurricane. She kept them sturdy and sane. They took a deep breath, closing their eyes and tightening their grip on their cane. Breathe, just breathe.

☆ Raymond Monet ☆

He dipped his head slightly as Ilia introduced him, clearing his throat to speak. "If you have any questions or concerns about wyvern handling, or would just like to see the stables, come see me." His voice rang out, scratchy and rough from disuse.

Raymond looked over at Byx, noticing they were nervous. He looked up at Neha, before shaking his head and reaching out. He put his large hand on theirs, trying to help calm them down. "Its gonna be okay." He whispered to them, trying to keep his face as sincere as possible.

🎑 [ Nyx Nith ]

Maybe the dragons aren't so bad, Nyx thought, watching them play, then fly off. She was one of those who studied the introduced with a sharp look. With her falcon at her arm and her titled green eyes, she looked like a bird herself, observing, watching. Sage tilted her head, watching the dragons soar in the air. The peregrine falcon spread her wings, and let out another chirp.

"Any questions so far?"

She shook her head slightly in response, then whistled lightly to Sage. The stubborn little falcon didn't obey right away, then with a very human glare at Nyx, flapped her wings to rise into the air. The falconer watched the bird's flight path with a soft smile. What must be like to fly? She'd find out soon, wouldn't she? The freedom. How...nice it would be. Not tethered to the ground, to soar among the clouds.

Wait. There was a question of her own. There was hesitancy as she opened her mouth, then closed it again.

"When will we get our wyverns?" Her voice, however, was not hesitant. There could be no hesitance in speaking to nobles -- the people she worked for. Or people she had worked for. Would she ever go back to that simple life? With dragons in the world -- again, she reminded herself -- nothing would be the same, right?

I'm sure you've heard of me by now, the King is not happy with the damage I've done... That's what the letter said. Damage...what had she done? Why was the King -- The King -- not happy? Were they -- the students; she was past worrying about the well-being of the adults that had dragged them into this -- in danger for being here? Why were they there? Why had dragons, wyverns, been erased from history? Questions circled her mind. From the first one, she said out loud, the others threatened to spill over her lips. Nyx clenched her jaws. Her expression was hard.
