tarantulas!

hi all! i'm new to spider keeping, but i have been keeping inverts and reptiles for a while. I was wondering if anyone else here has spiders/tarantulas :D? I'd love to talk about them and I have some questions.

I have a OBT (Pterinochilus murinus) sling i brought home today (i'm not sure his age but hes about half an inch) and a Phidippus audax bold jumping spider male who is young. I'd love to hear about ur spiders!

hello!! happy to see i'm not the only weirdo around here keeping spiders as pets hahaha :9
I used to have a grammostola rosea male named Steve! Unfortunately he passed away this september due to old age, he was right around 7 years old. Been thinking about possibly getting myself another 8 legged friend though since i really miss having one around :)

I'm not super experienced keeping T's but i'll gladly try to help with any questions you've got! Also i'm really curious about your jumping spider, do they make good pets? I've heard some mixed stuff but i can't imagine them being too hard to keep, only thing i can't really seem to figure out is how i would go about feeding one since they're so small hehe :D

roseas are gorgeous! rest in peace steve <3

and I LOVE my jumping spider, they are very curious and interactive. I caught my bold jumping spider and he is very chill, when i take off the lid to his enclosure he just stays put or investigates what im putting in. not to say all jumpers are that tame, maybe im just lucky haha. but the care is very easy since they are so small, they don't even need a water bowl :)

and i have no problems feeding mine, theyre excellent hunters so i just throw a tiny cricket in and he'll pounce on it if hes hungry

I have an Arizona Blonde I bought about...four years back? To try and help with my fear of spiders. It has not lmao But I love his weird lil self. His (I honestly don't know if boy or girl but I say boy) name is Cornchip and I've had him since he was the size of a dime and now he's about the size of my palm. He is utterly terrifying but I wouldn't trade him for the world haha

I had a Nhandu chromatus sling but she unfortunately didn't make it and passed from a bad molt. Her name was Sunchip and though I didn't have her long she was a delight to have and I still miss her. I plan to get another one or an Aphonopelma calchodes soon! I really got thrown into the tarantula world lmao

I used to be terrified of spiders and decided to get over that by getting one. It’s hard to be afraid of them after seeing how cute and derpy they can be. I got my first two at the same time about 7 years ago. The salmon pink bird eater passed away November of last year (rip Kamaji), but my chaco is going strong. ❤️
