How to Color/Paint Wolvden Designs

I'm working on a "pixel" peice for a friend that I thought could make a pretty fun YWH / adopt base for use on wolvden but I am struggling with how to translate a pretty well blended and "realistic" (with a grain of salt bc blue and purple markings) style of the wolvden portraiture to a more blocky and stylized pixel style..

So I wanted to ask the wolvden art community! How do YOU, local artist, handle painting Wolvden designs?

The example below is of my work in progress and not yet painted with my friend's wolf design.

I block out the main colors, then do a 50% blend where they meet. In my currant style I'm leaving black and white areas as-is for contrast, and only blending the brownish/greyish tones with each other. I'm also experimenting with dot blending to give a textured look without using soft brush strokes.
