Curious about how you all organize breeding. I just finished putting together a "stud book" to organize which lines can cross and which can't due to inbreeding. I like the challenge of not inbreeding while allowing lines to continue.

Most of my GC is spent custom designing mates to compliment each other, so I want to see those lines continue and watch how their looks change with generations. I have enough to buy cheap TI wolves, make them TII, and fill out marks. For any bred myself marks that don't pass are added based on the parents, to make breeding feel more realistic. I focus on that more than just trying to only get TIII. I'm very strict on avoiding unnatural colors, and so far lines are only monochrome and muted. I could look outside that but changing bases I don't like is expensive. Feels like monochrome has a less diverse gene pool, but can't be sure.

I'm trying to be more organized by making pairings based on age as much as color and stats. What challenges have you faced? Breeding goals? On the dog sim I play people don't have as much variety in stud choices, so they tend to keep a large population going or just accept inbreeding. My dogs are probably 50-75% COI.

Here is the list of bloodlines I've closed from entering my breeding pool again: Gavril Loken, Gery, Silverstar, Kubo, Lampo, Emperor, Sol, MICHAEL SKARN, Michael Scott, Grimoire, Casper, Ursa, Moonmaiden, Shadow, Dust Mote, Bursuc, Wolfgang, Yuki.

At the moment I have 3 finisher lines, 5 chaser lines, and 2 stalker lines. The finishers are the worst. None can cross with each other.

I have a single private line, a G1/G3 chaser pair. Debating on if they should stay private. Anyone place higher value on private lines, or is generation all that matters?

Thinking of raising NBW pairs to add to stat lines from time to time. Is this likely to be disappointing? I'm working on getting 50 territory slots to send 3 hunting parties. Not sure how else to raise stats on the new ones.

Oh wow, you're much more detailed in your breeding than I am! I take a more lore-based approach, so I have different bloodlines descended from the original NBW wolves I befriended when I started the game. Like you I don't inbreed, but I also don't tend to breed for anything in particular besides stats. Some bloodlines have certain traits I'm trying to keep, like my lead's husky mark or my original breeding male's smudge mark though. I don't have a lot of GC so I use outside studs to introduce high tier bases + marks. It's harder for marks, but easier for stats, and I don't have to grind so much for apps.

This contradicts with my low gen breeding habits from lioden, so I'm planning to have a couple adopted G2 offspring every now and then just to keep things fresh and make some of the many "reject" pups I sell more marketable. Long heritages irk me but I do think it'll be cool in a few years to look at the heritage of any (non adopted) wolf from my pack and see the many names of my past wolves.

To answer your question, I do place value in private lines. I don't like to use super popular studs for my pack, i.e. you'll never see a wolf in my pack with Micheal Skarn in their heritage. Though ironically I advertise the heck out of my studs because I like the idea of them having lots of descendants but it gets me SC so

Private lines? I barely know what that is on this game. LOL

I'm a die-hard statter and won't settle for less than 700+ birth stats (currently). That means keeping mostly female hunters and scouts, aggressively working and leveling them, and breeding them to the highest statted studs available at 6y6m of age. I like to keep all my wolves at 0%COI and I've been successful so far. But I might one day have to accept more inbreeding in my lines, as I get closer to the leader boards. For now, I'm comfortable just chasing after the leaders and picking up their breedings. I may never catch up, but a girl can dream.

I don't keep a lot of wolves. My lead, a 5-member hunting team, 2 scouts, an herbalist, and 3 pupsitters. That's a dozen adults, plus a few puppies to keep the pupsitters busy. Everyone must be Friendly/Romantic. I don't care for colors, tiers, long heritages, or anything like that. Stats above all for me!

This strategy allows me to save my money and only splurge on certain things. Mostly, that consists of paying for high-stat studs. If one of my future breeding wolves has a marking or a personality that I don't like, I'll pay to change or remove it. I sometimes appoint a breeding male and offer stud services, but I never get any interest, so I just forget about it a lot.

I do the same. Everyone lives separately by bloodline. Makes it easier to watch how family resemblances develop. There are also arranged marriages, since the alphas decide who gets to pair.

Yeah, probably won't be able to keep it up for long before they are merged with bought lines. Only have 1 granddaughter from my first lead.

My entire hunting team is descended from my first pair, but that was kind of an accident. I'm glad though, since it helps me lore-wise. I might breed my highest statted male hunter to my female scouts this generation, just to make them all a big family. But maybe not. It depends on what studs are available when it's breeding time.
