hey wolvden society of free thinkers

so I've been thinking about this for a while and wanted to make this silly thread to see what other people think!

due to the state of the wolvden economy I've been wondering about how it can be described in a political sense.

I've found support for two claims:

- Wolvden functions as a socialist state.
-Wolvden's economy behaves very much like capitalism.

Why I believe Wolvden could be socialist:

-"the state" aka devs/admins control the prices directly from the means of production
-example: prices are controlled for goods in events and in the Grove
-widely available public services: "state sponsored" raffles of goods and breedings,
-free education: Tala taught us how to play the game for free & we don't have to pay for pup training, only classroom materials.
-subsidized healthcare systems: there are so many groups now that are free to join/ask for salves and cures as well as the wolvden public hospital in our forums.

Why I believe Wolvden could be capitalist:

-once GC leaves the Grove and enters player markets or a good no longer is available in its window of state-sponsored price control, it becomes only regulated by price and demand cough cough which has been suffering badly from extreme mark-ups lately
(I am guilty of this but am happy to complain about GC skyrocketing).
-markets and "privately owned assets" aka studs are driven by competition and in large by profit motive
-prices are completely unregulated by "the state".

what do you think?

I feel more socialist. If it were capitalist, prices and everything would be regulated by the mods and devs like you said  (which I'd kinda be against). This is an interesting thread, I'm subscribing

I agree I'm leaning more towards socialism most right now, CrossFox. Though I would have to say that if we are a capitalist site, prices and everything are not controlled in the privatized player market. So we do definitely have that element of capitalism! The option to participate in the privatized player market is technically optional since the Grove and events give us the opportunity to buy from price controlled places. So I feel like from what I know right now we have more socialist elements at work!
