When we awake, we’ll find ourselves in an unfamiliar field. There will be no signs of immediate life — and certainly not our own. It will then ultimately progress to present-day Boston, Massachusetts. It's summer. The universities are out. Tourists are plentiful. Humans are plentiful. We were human not long ago. Now we are... something else. And something has noticed. Something has taken interest. Someone sees personal gain in our turmoil and transformation.

As we emerge from our graves, the process of metamorphosis complete except for the lingering expelling of human fluids, it is seen that we've all been situated in a circle. This isn't a characteristic of turning; such a thing is usually solitary and intimate, and your sire remains to impart wisdom. Full of confusion, tumult, and new compulsions clawing at our insides, we must learn how to see that our arrival was borne through shades of grey.

We are but a myth with a long and bloody history; no antiqued story or glorified fictionalization could have prepared us. Predators, vultures, monsters... we are not simply "misunderstood souls." There is a truth to the stories. Our creators have fled without having followed the tradition of veiling us in their knowledge, and we are left to pick up the pieces.

Why were our deaths so intricately orchestrated?

This is a vampire roleplay. It is not based on any single dramatization, novel, or piece of lore surrounding these creatures. We are newly born; there will be no Victorian-aged characters. I want this to be a sophisticated exploration with literate/semi-literate writing partners.

There is no disguising the predatory and dangerous nature of these creatures. I would be disappointed to see that aspect lost. However, in this fictional world, they hold onto pieces of their humanity... whatever personality, aspirations, or memories they had as humans, they still hold in their new form, to different degrees. Many of their human likes and dislikes remain, but in a memory sensation that they can learn to cling to or discard.
These characteristics can almost entirely be lost, in some cases, usually if the vampires have formed very specific nests. They become corrupted even further.

I really treasure roleplays with underlying themes and plotlines. It wouldn't surprise me if Violetwood contorts into new twists as we go along. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

- Method of Creation: Through a vampire bite. Blood was consumed by both parties, the victim drained (and effectively killed), and then buried. 24-hours pass before reanimation. Other vampires in our world also might’ve been turned through a particularly violent death (though not our own, as it goes against the plot.)

- Unique Abilities: Increased strength and speed, heightened senses, mesmerizing eyes with hypnotic qualities, and accelerated healing. Elder vampires may develop other abilities. We do not have an

- Vampires Can: Enter churches, touch holy water, touch crucifixes, touch garlic, see their reflection in mirrors.

- Vampires Cannot: Day-walk, stay "awake" for more than 12-hours without beginning to weaken, touch silver (severe damage is done to their skin), physically reproduce (there is an extensive history to the relationships between sires and their offspring, but in this storyline our creators have abandoned us), enter a house belonging to a human unless invited (invitations can be rescinded; and if the house belongs to a vampire, there is no barrier.)

- How to Kill a Vampire: Wood or silver to the heart, beheading, burning, walking into the daylight.

- Feeding: New vampires have an appetite not seen in their older counterparts. They feel the urge to feed more frequently, and on larger quantities of blood. They can subsist on animal blood, but it weakens them, and it does not erase their true desire. New vampires will not willingly feed on it.

- Fangs: Retractable. Prone to lack of control in newborns.

- Visual Attributes: Gradually paling skin from the time of being turned, relative to the tone that they had as humans. Veins are darker and more prominent. Their lower eyelids and under-eye area tends to have a pink flush, making them look a bit tired, irritated, or sickly. Humans might describe them as luminous, in a sort of unearthly way.

- Made: The turning from human to vampire.
- Nest: A group of vampires who live, hunt, and feed together, much like a pack. They grow even more aggressive than their loner equivalents.
- Newborn: A recently created vampire.
- Offspring: Also, children, child, progeny, heir. The humans transformed by their vampire sires.
- Sibling: Also, sister, brother. Two or more vampires with the same sire.
- Sire: Also, creator, maker. A vampire who transforms the life of a human. They can in isolated cases be referred to as mother or father, showing respect and indicating authority directly to the sire themself, but never parent.

- Please be 18+ if you wish to participate.

- This is a literate/semi-literate roleplay. I understand when the inspiration is low, and only a paragraph can be mustered, but please pay attention to this rule. Enough detail, scene progression, and respect must be given to allow proper development.

- Please remember to line-break between large walls of texts. Paragraphs, paragraphs, paragraphs. I have a hard time working with material from my partners when I can't see where I left off.

- It is preferred that a basic format of bolding character speech and italicizing character thoughts is used.

- We have a responsibility to wait a reasonable amount of time for all participants to post. There should be a general posting order between us all, but, if necessary, a couple between two is allowed if things are slow.

- If you are to be absent, I ask for notification. While I won't remove a person merely from disappearing, I will continue the roleplay after allowing some time -- and if the characters are left behind, or are unused for an extensive period, then it is unlikely that they will be able to reintegrate and may thusly be killed off. Contact me privately with any questions.

- There is to be no godmodding, powerplaying, Mary-Sues, or supernatural abilities beyond what was explained or characteristics (i.e. naturally pink hair, multi-colored eyes beyond normal circumstances.) Also worth mentioning is that no vampire can be one-dimensional: Either completely and utterly evil, or completely and utterly self-hating and conflicted. There is a range of emotions, and they are feeling them tenfold at the beginning.

- Romance is permitted. While this isn't a romance-based plot, there is a certain poetic nature about survival and trialsome events. Be creative, and do not force things without natural progression.

- Observe the Wolvden TOS. There is to be no detailed writing of excessive gore, feeding, or death in ways that our TOS would not allow.

- Please include "Plasma" somewhere in your application if the rules have been read.

- Members may have a maximum of two original characters, unless specifically given permission by myself. In general instances, I request that one must be male and one must be female. If you have questions, contact me privately.

- Remember to acknowledge all characters, even if it is just in passing (i.e. "He passed his gaze in the direction of the red-headed boy, though quickly returned sight to the eyes of the woman speaking.") It is a defeated feeling to see people trickle off because other members are only concerned with certain characters/participants..

- Do not begin until I have either submitted my first post or have given another player permission to do so.

- There is limited space in this roleplay. I plan on capping off at five or six members (not including their characters.)

- Await sending applications until the OOC thread is made. I will either ask you to post there or to send it to my inbox.

Male Characters

THOMAS ANTHONY GENTILE

Full Name: Thomas Anthony Gentile
Nickname: Not particularly fond of nicknames. His family called him Tommy.
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Height: 5'5''
Weight: Slender, lightly muscled, more from his everyday habits than an active fitness routine.
Eyes: Powder blue, very flat-toned.
Hair: Dull ginger, a little longer than a crew cut, gelled and styled with old-fashioned influence.
Predominant Feature(s): A copious amount of scattered tattoos. Most notable would be the snake around his neck and the facial tattoo that says "Pure" on his left temple/above his left eyebrow. Very heavily freckled, face and body.

Detailed Appearance: Thomas is a narrowly-built man, standing on the shorter side at 5'5'', with lightly pronounced muscles. He has a story to his life, as everyone does, only he has decided to visually depict it through the inkings on his skin. Two of the more notable, noticeable pieces are his facial tattoos ("Pure" on his left temple, and some work creeping along his jawline) and the snake coiled around his neck. People would not perceive him as traditionally "imposing" if it were not for his body modifications.

His hair is kept at a length that is slightly longer than a crew cut, just enough to be able to be styled and combed into something reminiscent of classic, black-and-white films. It is red -- or ginger, rather -- but it is not vibrant. The color is dull and lifeless.

Thomas has a bit of a bent nose, soft lips, and rectangular, quiet powder blue eyes. They are one of the more gentle features to his appearance. He has a creamy, pale skin tone which will only grow more pallid and greyed as days continue, and a hefty, expansive splattering of freckles from his diamond-shaped face (congregating mostly in the center) to legs.

Personality:
History: Thomas is a Boston native, having grown up in-city.
