Dawn's Eclipse Lore Brainstorming [April Showers, Lore Clan Event]

I might be a little bit late to the event but I'm still going to do this regardless and am pretty excited to be  part of Lore Clan! I'm hoping that it will help me to actually sit down and write the lore behind my pack.

Goals:

Please don't post here, I want to keep this clutter free as each goal is probably going to be it's own post as the days roll past, but feel free to DM me with advice/thoughts.

Day 1, April 18, 2022


Pack Foundation


The pack known today as Dawn's Eclipse began deep within the mountain side. Originally known as the Iron Dawn, the pack's first lead was a red to white she-wolf named Snowdrop. Having come to an age where many wolves opt to begin their own pack, she left her family pack behind and began the hunt for a mate the start things off just as her father and mother had before her. However, this would never come to pass, instead she found herself joining an already mated pair, the young Desert Sun and his wiser, stead fast mate, Swift Claws and a strange red wolf known only as the Red Angler, Wanderer of Dreams.
Together Snowdrop and her new friends traveled out of the mountains and into the grasslands as Red Angler promised them that the open biome was rich with feral horses and stray cattle that would keep their pack well fed and growing. Soon they were joined by Fire Strike, a powerful male native to the grasslands, Brackish Waters, a female from the southern swamps whose size rivaled that of the average male, and her adopted son, Cas, who was barely off the teat upon their joining of the Iron Dawn.
For many years, other wolves came and went with the members of the Iron Dawn always following the rising of the sun into the deciduous forest. It was there, in the shade of the autumn leaves that they found the pup that would forever change the pack; a small, blue she-pup half hidden in the leaf litter. She was not like any wolf they had ever seen before, the blue of her fur wasn't dusted grey but rather a brilliant shining blue, as if she were illuminated by lunar light despite there being none.
Red Angler sensed that it was more than her peculiar color that made her special and advised they take her in and raise her as their own. Cas, having been adopted himself, was eager to take on a paternal role in the pup's life, though it would be the pupsitters, Ice Breeze, Fallen Ashes, and Denim Jacket, who would hold the most responsibility in her care. As alpha, it came down to Snowdrop to name the abandoned pup. After several days of careful thought, the newest member of the pack was given the name Kaguya for her innocence and kind heart.
When Kaguya grew old enough for basic training, Fire Strike would often sit out of hunts to each the puppy how to be a wolf and about pack life, however, it was Red Angler who taught her the herbalist's trade, molding her into a useful member of the pack. Due to their influence both Red Angler and Fire Strike were rewarded under the light of the full moon, gaining aspects of the gods of the mood. Fire Strike's points shifted into the soft blue of the goddess Luna and gained her Azure eyes. Red Angler turned from ruddy red to the losna pelt worn by the goddess Nyx and revealing the lunar spots that had once been too subtle to notice, his eyes becoming lux (that of the god Hypnos).
Snowdrop too was blessed for allowing Kaguya to enter her pack. While she wasn't given a physical aspect of the moon wolves, nor the gods, Snowdrop was granted the ability to enter the Dreamlands (a power previously housed only by Red Angler) and so would those born of her blood. It was on that day the Iron Dawn Pack became The Dawn's Eclipse.

Pack Law


The Dawn's Eclipse has some rules that every member of the pack is expected to follow.
  1. The lead must be a descendant of Snowdrop, preferably one who was born with a lunar trait and female, though male leads are allowed.

  2. Beings from the lunar dreamlands are to be treated with respect and helped by the pack whenever able. Only if a being from the plains is the aggressor is it allowed for a member of the Dawn's Eclipse to attack.

  3. There is no hierarchy when it comes to feeding, all food is shared equally among it's members and those caught hoarding food may be chased from the pack or demoted

  4. All members of the pack are free to take a mate, the Dawn's Eclipse's alphas (Lead and the Stud) will never hold exclusive rights to mating.

  5. If a pairbond is broken for any reason, those once in it are given a month (2 rl days) to grieve before returning to their daily chores.

  6. No pup is to be left unprotected under any circumstance.  If there aren't enough sitters, elders will be assigned as sitters until younger ones are trained to fulfill the role

  7. Inbreeding is to be avoided, however distant relatives (i.e. 2nd page in the family tree) is not considered inbred and thus not immoral by the pack.

  8. Products of inbreeding will still be given the same protections as any other pup but are to be chased from the pack once they become an adult and the parents separated.

Lunar event importance



The Lunar Event is known to the Dawn's Eclipse as the March of Gods as it is the time when their deities and their ancestors walk freely among them. While all wolves of the pack partake in this yearly event, only the pack lead an the herbalist are capable of entering the lunar realms and even then, only the lead can interact with the beings of the dreamlands whilst the herbalist can only watch and listen to them, incapable of physical contact with its citizens.
This event is extremely important to the pack members not only because it is a time to commune with gods and remember fallen packmates and family, but it is when the pack receives annual blessings. Typically one or two wolves from the pack are selected by a given God or Goddess through the body of the herbalist, this is in honor of Fire Strike and Red Angler, the first wolves to receive the blessings.
Those who are chosen are judged by their valor, skill, loyalty, and how heavy their hearts weigh. If any of these are out of balance, the wolves of Dawn's Eclipse risk missing out on the blessings entirely.
