Lore

when you can't pick a story so you make them all :T

The wolves here aren't your average wolf pack back home. and no, its not just because some have strange looks, colorful pelts, or wield weapons. What makes them special is they can travel through dimensions. These wolves have an insatiable hunger to learn as much as they can about anything they can. they long to explore every point in time, learn about the smallest workings of the worlds, experience every feeling, live every day. On a never ending journey.

The pack is divided into Sub-Packs, each with their own leader, living in a certain place that appeals to them. some want to live where magic is rampant and theirs to master, others long to explore the stars above. Some like the idea of learning how to wield weapons in glorious combat. Or perhaps just living the slow and easy life of a regular wolf in todays world. hunt, raise a family, and live in peace. The possibilities are endless!

there are many different packs a young wolf can join, they can even go on to make their own, and head off to start new adventures. it is common for a pup to have parents in different packs, or just naturally displaying the characteristics of several, but they have the freedom to later go on and find the one that calls out to their heart.

so my friend, what Packs are currently out roaming the worlds, and what do they look like if I were ever to stumble upon them? well sadly the number of groups, as well as the wolves living in them, has dwindled drastically since Essex's leadership but make no mistake, He has big plans for the pack. Even though most dens lay empty, unused, he knows he can build the pack up back to its former glory, maybe even greater than what it once was. but enough about that, lets get introduced to the groups that live here.

The Ancient Isles

First up is the Ancient Isles. this is a very old land much like the old British Isles in your world today, however Magic saturates this entire land, and wolves go on quests to master it and discover its inner workings. Wolves here spend their days learning to wield magic and conversing with the spirits and gods. They have adopted some of the customs of this time, such as how they name their children and how they dress. the wolves here all have at least some green on their pelts, and occasional browns. They all live a rather secluded life, but don't be mistaken, they love combat in any form. All of them are skilled in magic, but aren't afraid to use their own teeth and claws to finish off enemies.

The Lunar Voyage

If you wander the stars above, you can find a pack there too. these wolves all have shades of blue and other cool colors on them. although some warmer colored wolves can occasionally be found in the group too. They name themselves after the sky and space above (no surprise there) they love swimming in the seas of stars, and jumping down to planets to meet the inhabitants and explore these new worlds. These wolves are the most peaceful and hospitable, though it can be hard to find them in the vast expanse of space as they are always traveling. Their jewelry is usually made of stars that have been shrunk and encased into small orbs. (though we are really unsure as to how they do this) These orbs work as the base of all their decorations, that way no matter where they go, they can take a piece of the sky with them.

The Nothing

Then there's the Nothing, a place where hardly anything is known about. its a sort of mirror dimension. where everything is ...wrong... Twisted and choked in shadow, covered in death. Things don't make sense here. Noises are garbled and altered, flickerings of shadows in otherwise empty places, the list is endless. The other packs have no idea why anyone would willingly want to live in such a strange and evil place. Maybe that's why the wolves that inhabit here have their pelts bleached of color, only colors of black, white, and every shade of grey in-between. Strangely their eye color remains the same, maybe because the eyes are the window to the soul after all, which aren't so easily tainted. Hopefully the wolves souls aren't being as manipulated as their pelts in this place. for some reason, all the melanistic wolves born in the packs have an unnatural calling to this place. as if the shadow has crept into their hearts, blackening it and their pelts. Even some albinos have found their way into the Nothing and called it home.  The wolves that live here seem to have their minds altered in strange ways too. most of them grow silent, never to speak again. those that do, are hard to understand. Sometimes it seems they are oblivious to anything around them, and other times, they seem to be able to bore straight into your soul, bending you to their will. Life is scarce and you would be lucky to see even a glimpse of another wolf if you visit this place. Actually, maybe lucky isn't the right word.. I don't recommend crossing paths with any animal that lives here, lest you be driven to insanity, or simply killed right away. This is a land of monsters. Where nothing is as what it seems...

Den of Knives

Ah, the Den of Knives. This pack lives in a world filled with dragons, sea serpents, wizards, and other such things thought to be fictional in your world. There is magic here, but not as much as in other places such as the Ancient Isles. only a very special few are able to access it, fewer still who can master it. The drive for battle is very strong in these wolves, but don't fear, despite this hunger for battle, they are more levelheaded and rational than you may think. These wolves all have varying degrees of red on them, as if the constant battling has permanently stained their fur. Wolves come here to master fighting in every style, some have devoted countless learning to wield weapons of every type, and you can usually see them adorned with their armor and swords. or you may find a beautiful maiden, decorated in the finest garb, awaiting her Knight in shining armor. Young ones spend their days fighting to win honor and a lovely maidens hand (or paw rather), learning how to rule kingdoms, or going on conquests and forging their paths in war.

The Howling woods

The wolves here live in very dense forests out in the middle of nowhere. the forests here are always shrouded in fog and most of the 24-hour days cycle consists of night. unlike the other wolves here, these ones live upright on two paws. they are what you would call werewolves. They live in rudimentary villages (though there are large cities in lots of places), and though suspicious of anyone outside their pack (or village as they sometimes call it) they are all very friendly with one another and spend a lot of time partying and celebrating. they live in a mix of a primitive style village but also have advanced technology, but they rarely use it and aren't dependent on it. they can shift between humans and wolves, either upright or down on all fours. The wolves here mostly have natural looking fur, but can be of any color, however its all rather muted to make it easier to blend in to their forest homeland. Im not too sure if all humans here can turn into werewolves or if there are two different groups. I don't spend much time here as its rather glum and dark to me.

The Ancestral Home

Lastly is the Pack of Packs, the leaders pack, although this title is passed from Pack to Pack depending on who the new leader is. This group happens to enjoy the peaceful secluded life. they live in the woods like their ancient ancestors, hunting for food, traveling, and leading a fairly solitary life aside from their family. these wolves all have the ancient pelts as they call. colors that were fairly common among their ancestors, who inhabited your world. you won't find any blue or pink wolves here. Essex's group tends to live together in their own pack in the forested areas, but occasionally, some will split off into other groups. Opting to live elsewhere such as the Mexican desert, or the arctic tundra instead. maybe even living as loners, although they still have a strong bond with the pack and will always come back eventually. This world is very much like your own, it even had its own version of people at one point but they are no more. However, this world is saturated with untamable magic. It makes an exceptional center for the Pack of Packs, as though the vast majority of wolves are oblivious to the rampant tide of energy, those who know how to access it are able to easily jump to whichever dimension they want, and the shear amount of magic here works as a sort of beacon for the other packs, so they never fear of getting lost in the endless sea of worlds.

Well now that you've gotten yourself acquainted with the packs, would you like to meet some of the more notable wolves of each pack? no, perhaps another time. that will take a while. Lets move on to In-game lore shall we?

In-game Lore

Current World
there are no humans in this world. There used to be, but not anymore. Maybe one day I'll figure out what happened but we'll just have to speculate for now. due to humans disappearing, wolf packs have become much larger than anyone could have guessed, and now that the horrors of the humankind are gone, animals have been able to gain higher intelligence, though living a much more peaceful life, living in balance with everyone else unlike their predecessors.
All animals in this world are capable of speech and can talk with one another. They all live by the same rules, each animal species living in their own role. its forbidden for wolves to talk to prey animals, let alone making friends. communication between two animals in the same general rank on the food chain is allowed, such as a wolf and an owl, both apex predators in their domains. the sly raccoons have found a way to altogether take themselves off the menus of all hunters. working themselves into the spot as the general suppliers of the forest. We aren't too sure where the snakes fit in, but they've also gotten themselves off the menu somehow. They are all suspicious and there's lots of theories going on about them, but Im like 99% sure Cornelius, the questing snake, is the local mafia boss...

Wolves
The Pack of Packs is home to the alpha. the packs living out separately from the Pack of Packs are assigned commanders. these wolves are in charge of running the sub-packs while away, but they always answer to the Alpha when returning to their home. The power these wolves hold may vary depending on what each future Alpha dictates.
Chased wolves are called loners. ones having lived in packs before. Rogues are those regular unspecial befriendable wolves. these wolves have always lived alone, and come from an endless lineage of wandering nomads.
Any wolf has free access to the hoard at any time, but none are allowed to use anything there without express permission, and it is still usually the alpha who takes charge in body modifying, food distribution, etc. some may even have guard duty assigned to the hoard, keeping out the pesky thieves who might come and try to steal valuable things from there.
each of our wolves in our packs has their own SC and GC income though everyone generally gives most of their savings away to the pack pool. This currency is almost exclusively used by the alpha, as pack members generally don't find themselves in population centers. This currency should always be used for the benefit of the pack, but some future alphas may find this as more of a suggestion than a rule...
You may think that these rules are swayed very much in favor of the alpha, but just remember that the alpha only holds this position so long as the pack decrees it. even then, they are not so defenseless, being almost exclusively the sole providers of food, pack protection, and land discovery.

The Tabula Rasa is closely allied with Essex's pack, Aster sharing a close friendship with him. Despite being regular wolves of this world, they still know of the special abilities shared within Essex's pack and some may even find themselves going to his pack to experience these new lifestyles for themselves (Lore only)

Chat
this is just a place for pack leaders to relax and gossip, for when they need a break from running their packs.

Custom Decor Store
this place is sort of an underground black market. A place where the power is stronger than usual, strong enough to where even ordinary wolves can access it (though there are several pockets of these sites all over the world, this is the only commonly known one). wolves are able to bring back artifacts and powers from these different dimensions and some have started selling them to the public.

Currency
The currency here are silver and gold cones. Again Im like 90% sure this is just a total sham made up by our mafia boss and the raccoons. its not a coincidence the two sneakiest animals in the forest have found a way to A) make themselves indispensable and B) to be the ONLY distributers of this new currency, which im not even sure where it comes from in the first place. wouldn't be surprised if a couple spray paint cans and regular pine cones were involved...

Lunar dreamlands
this is just another dimension similar to the ones some of the packs live in. for some reason this one has a very strong connection with this world, strong enough that most wolves are able to freely travel between the two, and even permanently move to one. Maybe they just have very similar power that draws them to each other every so often.

Coigreach
With the amount of power surging through this world, its no surprise a spirit was able to tap into it and cause a bit of havoc. this spirit somehow kept transporting things from their land to ours, (among other very strange things) and even taking some of our own and sending them to the other land. Thankfully it was just a bit of teleportation and nothing more (at least for most). I've heard some wolves were even able to find a way to travel the thousands of miles back to their homes.
