DO NOT POST, PLEASE

Overview:
Note: I'm trying to incorporate game mechanics into my lore. Currently, my dens are organized by pack role but when I get the materials and build more dens they will relate to lore more.

I'm planning on making the story very serene and spiritual: the wolves are connected to the earth and their gods represent seasons and elements of the world/nature. The turmoil in the story comes when one of the gods falls ill, causing nature to basically fall apart and there are plenty of natural disasters and river poisoning.

PLEASE DO NOT POST

MONDSTEIN

It's early spring and the ground is soggy from a recent rainstorm. The moon shines in the early night, the sky a deep purple as the sun sinks below the mountains in the distance. Wind whistles through the trees and dances across the top of a nearby lake, which bank is lined with pebbles of various sizes. The moonlight reflects off of the lake and performs a show on the bank, bobbing, weaving, and twisting. The soft, distant click of nails on stone and the sound of rocks gently rubbing together alerts the surrounding creatures of a presence. A bluejay shrills once as it takes off from a tree and disappears into the distance, leaving the branch quivering. A lithe brown-toned wolf meanders across the bank...

☽ Götter // Gods

There are 4 main gods that rule over the elements, 4 gods that are worshipped as pillars, and a myriad of smaller gods that take care of smaller, more nuanced elements of the world. Each pack is dedicated to/intertwined with a specific god that they worship and that protects them. However, almost all packs recognized and worship the 4 main elemental gods and/or the pillars as well.
Mondstein pack worships the COSMO pillar // Hint the name 'Mondstein', meaning 'Moon Stone'

Elementary gods change hands (about) every century, with a normal wolf replacing them and becoming a god. Each pack that chooses an elemental god as their deity selects a candidate. These candidates are chosen at birth and on the anniversary of their 7th day of birth (their 7th birthday) they are sent to sit on the elemental stones [more about those later] where they will either be accepted as the new god or they will be laid to rest.  These wolves will have to sit completely still for 24 hours, alone, without food or water on the stones as a test. The gods are typically merciful and will quickly and painfully kill the wolf if they are not accepted by the end of the test.

Pillars are immortal and only able to be killed by other gods. [This will play into lore later as gods become mysteriously 'ill' and die]
There is no system for pillar replacements, as nobody ever expects the gods to kill each other [gods stay isolated to themselves and the packs that worship them, typically. When gods do meet, it is brief and cordial, despite feelings they may have.]
Packs offer candidates to the pillars as well, but instead of a replacement, these candidates become immortal [cannot die from old age] apprentices to the pillar and act as communicators between worshippers and the worshiped god.

Dimensional gods are immortal with no known weaknesses. While they cannot be killed, they can sustain injuries.
Their connection to another dimension causes mutations. These mutations would normally be lethal but their immortality allows them to survive [but not grow]. These wolves are practically locked in time and can communicate with both dimensions, sometimes moving things between dimensions. Along with their physical mutations, these gods have been blessed with incredible intelligence and even foresight.

Afterlife // Dynasty - Candidates and former gods will become spirit guardians for the territory they resided in after death. These spirits are considered sentient.
Regular wolves simply decompose and their spirits provide energy to the other elements to keep the world spinning. If a wolf has dedicated their life to/worshipped a specific god, their spirit's energy will transfer to that element.

Alles über Gott Kosmo // All about Cosmo God

Basic OverviewThe cosmo god controls the stars, the sky, and most importantly the moon. Wolves who worship the god of the cosmos feel a deep connection to the night and are guided by moonlight.
The cosmo god is often depicted as a she-wolf with silvery fur and black marks. She is the most generous and gentle of the gods and cares for all of the earth-bound wolves, whether they worship her or not. Those wolves that do worship her enjoy a special bond with her and are said to experience enhanced night vision, an ability to read the stars, and increased stamina and prowess during a full moon.

Most wolves that worship the cosmo god take after their deity and inherintly kind-hearted and good natured.

Note: since I am an RR [Raise to Release] den, I will simply explain all my RR pups as passerby's seeking shelter or a safe space from persecution.
Some clans are hostile towards any lone wolf or non-worshiping wolf. Mondstein offer temporary refuge for these wolves [ig they happen to pass by]

Non-believers

There are certain wolves who do NOT believe that the gods exist.
These wolves are often attacked by believers, and some gods are petty and may smite them with a bit of bad luck. Some of the more immature gods play divine pranks on these wolves when they are bored.

All wolves generally agree that there is a trace of magic in their world, even if they cannot harness it themselves. However, there are a rather large number [yet still the minority] that deny the existence of the gods.

Pack types

[Will go more in depth later]

Some packs are simply religious [the packs that worship a specific god as their deity] and others are cultist. Other packs are a collective of non-believers that band together for protection.

Wolves are not the only religious animals.
However, non-canines are automatically bonded with a god based on biome and/or species, whereas canines choose which gods to worship based on feelings and personal beliefs.
