Kaiya uncoiled, dropping into the water and sending herself gliding along with a flick of her tail. The smell of... mist? No, there was something else as well. Death? But very faint, mainly covered in floral scents... she looked up, expecting to see some person and instead... a ghost. With a sharp hiss she drew herself up and the ghost turned around, stepping back to gape at her.

Arren's heart stopped.

Metaphorically.

Anyway! Towering over them was a massive snake with the torso and head of a human. Water dripped down their sides and the gold wrapped around their torso shimmered, catching the moonlight. The snake-human thing moved forward, surging onto land and Arren scrambled back. They can't hurt me! Right? The spirit thought, about to duck behind a tree before a heavy coil slammed into the dirt behind them. Oh shit. Arren looked to the coil, and back at the snake-human.

"Well! First, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, I was just looking.... what was I looking for...? I'm sorry! I was looking for something and I got lost and I think I'm dead? But I ended up here and I have no clue what I'm doing, just let me go and I'll move on!" They rambled, gesturing frantically. Despite the fact they could, yknow, phase through the snake, Arren guessed it'd probably be better to just stand and wait.

Kaiya looked down, slowly lowering closer to the person's level. "I'm... not too bothered by you being on my territory....  but why do you not know what you're looking for? Why did you think the answer was here?" She pressed, slitted eyes flitting over their form before stopping at their face. Arren gulped.

Surging around a bend in the river, Ceò paused, eyes widening as she beheld the source of the strange scent. A massive Naga stood coiled on the riverbank, seemingly looking down at something obscured by its coils. She swallowed, weighing her chances. With the river so close, her powers would certainly be strong, but the Naga was far too large and strong to overpower and drown- and likely too smart to trick.

No, better to hide, wait and observe. Sinking below the water's surface, Ceò watched silently.

After a few awkward seconds Arren took a small step back. "Well, you see, uh, I died. And. I don't know why I'm here? But I appeared here? And everytime I go to sleep I wake up somewhere different and it seemed to be getting closer to the river each day so I figured I'd come closer, y'know, see what has happening. I didn't mean to intrude! Just wanted... to explore?" Arren started hesitantly and found it got easier to talk as they progressed. They took another small step back, testing the snake's limits and jumped as the coil tightened, moving forward again. "And why have you not simply left? Surely you can phase through scales, meat and bone?" They asked and Arren shrugged, fiddling with the small ring on their pinky. "I suppose I'd rather not piss you off, I'd much rather be polite about it! After all, that would give me a better chance to get away! No offense, I just... don't want to die? Again? Irrational fear I guess." They continued, eyes flicking back and forth between the trees and the snake-human.

Kaiya hissed slightly, forked tongue flicking as she thought. The ghost wasn't causing a problem and it'd probably be gone but the smell of horse was still close. And stronger. She released the ghost, moving back towards the water but not entering it. "I suppose you can go free... just keep away from my den. You'll know where it is, just look for the bones." She almost laughed as the spirit's eyes widened and they nodded frantically, apologising worriedly. Kaiya turned her gaze away, raking the water's surface as she prepared to pull her body back to the water.

Seeing the Naga move, Ceò craned her neck up, hoping to catch a glimpse of what it had hid- and she did. A translucent figure stood at the riverbank, a ghost, she recognised. Narrowing her eyes, she noticed something awfully familiar about it, and as it moved, the light glinted off a ring on its left pinky.

Arren!

Flailing in shock, Ceò lost her control over her molecules for a second and reformed, nearly imperceptible black tint to the water coalescing back into that of an ebony mare with glowing eyes before she regained control, melting back into liquid. Submerging fully, she could only hope her transformation had been brief enough to not alert the Naga.

Unluckily for the Kelpie, Kaiya spotted the movement as she raked her gaze across the water. Arren yelped, leaping back as Kaiya slammed her tail into the water, swishing through the murky liquid searching for the equine like smell. "What was that! Get out my waters you intruder!" The Naga hissed, surrounding the spot that had changed but not entirely sure what to do.

Arren kept to the shore, hand over their mouth in shock. What had moved? What pissed off the creature? Oh fuck I'm gonna die! was their first thought and they started to sink, losing control and simply melting into the earth. "Ah! No, crap!" Arren shrieked, first trying to solidify themself before trying to get out, trying to get to the water and avoid something dying.

Ceò's first thought was of escape, but seeing Arren so close to the enraged Naga, fear for him flashed into her throat. Extending her consciousness to the water around her, she called to the molecules, whipping them up into a raging vortex and reforming into a mare, letting the waves bear her aloft as she leapt from the river with an enraged scream.

Gleaming teeth bared and eyes glowing with power, she struck out at the Naga's face and torso with her front hooves, reaching for it with tendrils of water and attempting to pull it down into the river.

Kaiya's face was pushed back but she slithered into the water gladly, sliding down the bank fully before moving with the water to duck under the mare's hooves and grab her side for the momentum to wrap her snake body around the creature and dropping the muscle that kept her up, dragging the creature into the vortex instead of letting it balance.

Arren, having no clue that it was Ceò, a dear friend who was the last one to stay close, managed to push out of the ground and move away, shocked at the fight between the two. The snake was probably more dangerous but the horse controlled water?! With a shaky, completely useless breath, they stepped away, ready to just turn and run.

Letting out a screech of pain as the Naga constricted around her body, Ceò let herself dissolve into the water and reformed out outside of the Naga's coils.

Knowing she could not penetrate the Naga's scales, Ceò intensified the vortex, dragging it down further and lunging at the Naga's exposed, vulnerable upper body.

I hope Arren is gone by now, it's dangerous for him to be so close!
