🌊 O.C.E.A.N. personality system

I study psychology at university and this is just a concept for a different personality system based upon numerous real-world studies of people ^^ it's a biiiiig work in progress !

Also I've chosen to put this here instead of Game Development because I'm conceptualizing it for my own leisure and enjoyment, not to propose it for implementation ^^

Current predominant theory* in the field of personality: all humans across time, culture, and place display degrees of 5 major traits

Openness-- curiosity, intellect, thinking outside the box, liberalism, listening to other points of view
Conscientiousness-- self-discipline, organization, impulse control, delayed gratification
Extroversion-- drawing energy from others, preferring to be around people than alone (versus introversion: drawing energy from being alone, preferring solitude)
Agreeableness-- cooperation, compassion, getting along with others, compliance
Neuroticism-- mental instability, self-destructive thinking, "negative" characteristics/outlooks 

The acronym is OCEAN (or CANOE). These are called the 5 Big Factors of Personality or smth similar!

*There is a lot of nuance and criticism of this theory that I'm not going to discuss here, just don't take it as definitive fact ^^

My concept is wolf personalities being categorized not as aggressive/stoic/friendly/romantic, but by which OCEAN they fall under and whether they're high/low in it.
E.g.

Openness
• High: Keen
• Low: Lazy (?)

Conscientiousness
• High: Dutiful
• Low: Impulsive

Extroversion
• High: Confident
• Low: Independent

Agreeableness
• High: Dedicated
• Low: Bossy

Neuroticism
• High: Anxious
• Low: Trusting

I feel like some of the existing personalities in the game would qualify for multiple axes though. Devs using a system like this ~could~ score each personality in every OCEAN? :/
E.g. Sullen by definition is low in agreeableness AND high in neuroticism.
Personality could be listed like it is ingame, but with a link to a "personality page" that lists data like this:
• SULLEN
O: low? Average? N/a?
C: average? N/a?
E: n/a?
A: low
N: high

Problem with that is that a lot of them would.. just be n/a... Where would personalities like Neutral or Capable even go? Honestly now I'm thinking I'd just get rid of ambiguous personalities like Sullen and Neutral and replace them with similar but more clear-cut ones. As a dev I'd consider having personality changers on discount for awhile to make up for how that change might screw up peoples' parties ): I'd assign each remaining personality to just 1 OCEAN, then assign them as either high or low in that category.

1 OCEAN also makes the personality clashing feature easier to keep. It would be based on how high/low their personality is on which OCEAN!
E.g.
• Amiable and Dedicated would get along well and receive a bonus, because they are both high in Agreeableness!
• Scatterbrained and Trusting would have no issues because they are not on the same OCEAN! Scatterbrained is low Conscientiousness, Trusting is low Neuroticism.
• Imaginative and Combative would have no issues because they are not on the same OCEAN! Imaginative is high Openness, Combative is low Agreeableness.
• Confident and Quiet would clash and suffer a penalty because they're opposites on Extroversion, high and low respectively.

It would impact hunting just the same: success is lower when clashing wolves are teamed up. I'd add a small success BOOST when all 5 wolves on a team are in the same category.
E.g.
• All 5 members of a hunting party are HIGH in NEUROTICISM.
They get a +5% chance!
• All 3-4 members of a hunting party are LOW in AGREEABLENESS.
They get a +1% chance!
• A hunting party has 2 members. They are not opposites in any capacity.
Their success chance is neither penalized nor boosted!
• Each member of a hunting party falls into a different letter of OCEAN.
High vs low doesn't matter. Their success chance is neither penalized nor boosted!
• A hunting party has 2 members. One is HIGH in EXTROVERSION and the other is LOW in it.
They get a -10% chance!
• A hunting party has 3 members. Two are HIGH in OPENNESS, but the other wolf is LOW in OPENNESS.
They get a -5% chance!
• A hunting party has 5 members. Three are LOW in EXTROVERSION, one is HIGH in CONSCIENTIOUSNESS, but the last is LOW in CONSCIENTIOUSNESS.
They get a -5% chance!
• A hunting party has 5 members. Two are HIGH in NEUROTICISM and three are LOW in NEUROTICISM.
They get a -10% chance!

I'd replace and add personalities based on proportions, trying to keep about equal numbers of each spot in each OCEAN. If I had waaaay more high Extroverted personalities than any other, I'd avoid adding those for awhile.

I'm gonna list every personality in the game, their classification in the game, and what I'd classify it as based on the OCEAN model

Gonna continue to add and revise whenever I want ^^

I appreciate the thoughtfulness of this idea! You must be doing well in college :3.  As a Marine Biologist I was instantly attracted to the word "OCEAN" but Ive learned something new about personality traits by reading this!
