It began on a cloudy afternoon. A scruffy brown young wolf sat impatiently, her paws tip tapping the sandy floor. Soon after, another shy black wolf approached, around the same age. "Hey, LovesCurse. You excited for today?" He asked in a soft tone. "How could I not be? Todays the day!" She yapped, tail wagging furiously. The black wolf giggled and sat down next to her as more wolves gathered around them.
A much older dusty colored wolf sat upon a short stone slab and cleared her throat, silencing the chattering. "Well, as many of you have noticed, we have some fine new wolves with us today. My, I hardly recognize them! Seems just a minute ago, they were squirming for milk at their mothers belly." A few wolves chucked and the younger wolves nervously copied. "Well, few have decided to stay with Sycamore Pack and even fewer have chosen to leave. To start a new life. Those who've chosen this, you may step forward." LovesCurse bounded to the front, followed by DeepWallows, the black wolf. Two more followed closely behind. A russet male and a light brown male. These two had previously chosen to stay behind but now wanted to leave Sycamore Pack. The dusty furred wolf gave a slight nod. Taking in a deep breath, she released a booming howl. Not long after, the other wolves of Sycamore Pack joined in. The air was filled with a mystical essence as howls surrounded them from every corner. The year old wolves took the signal, bolting from the meadows of Sycamore Pack, leaving it for good.

"Stop, I'm so- tired!" DeepWallows panted as he bolted alongside LovesCurse. The russet male and light brown male were still running alongside them as well. "We can't, I can still hear them howling! C'mon you slowpoke!" LovesCurse yapped excitedly.
"Maybe just you hear them, I certainly don't." The light brown male began to slow down to a stop, as did the rest of the small band. The russet male and DeepWallows both nodded. LovesCurse shook her head and chuckled nervously. "You guys are right. Oops!" DeepWallows grumbled and glanced around. They were no longer in long, open stretches of meadows but in a deep wooded thicket with looming mountains in the distance.
"Strange, I could've sworn we were still in the meadows a second ago." LovesCurse padded around, sniffing tree roots and bushes. The quartet disbanded and began poking around the habitat around them. The russet male ventured towards a tiny entrance, seemingly leading to a cave or den. A strange scent swooped though his nose and overwhelmed his senses. He took a step back and shook his head, eyes blinking woozily. "You alright AutumnsWind?" The light brown male padded cautiously towards the russet wolf. He sniffed where AutumnsWind was and took a step back. "A wolf scent marker... LovesCurse, DeepWallows, get over here!" The summoned wolves padded up to him. "What is it SweetSap?"
SweetSap pointed to the area in which AutumnsWind had been investigating. "He's never scented a Pack marker so he's a little dazed. But, I think we're in a some wolves territory."  The brown wolf explained. LovesCurse paused, whispering now. "Not their territory, their camp." The group paused. Slowly, they saw the immense amount of wolves around them. Around thirty or forty wolves were all basking in the sun, sleeping peacefully. They blended in so well with their surroundings, no wolf previously saw them. Many pups were snuggled into the fur of certain wolves. Two pups who were playing in the bushes, scrambled out and came yipping towards them. DeepWallows looked around frantically as wolves' ears began to twitch and some were being aroused. LovesCurse quietly ran towards them and tied grass around their snouts. They whimpered, louder than their yipping, and shook their heads. They pawed at the grass knots in attempt to get them off. LovesCurse breathed a sigh of relief and padded back towards the band. "What-? I did what I had to do!" LovesCurse said, glancing at DeepWallows', AutumnsWind's and SweetSap's petrified faces. DeepWallows turned her head to face a massive, grey timber wolf. Behind it proudly stood the two pups, muzzle free from the grass ties. As the male wolf deeply growled, the rest of the pack awoke and spotted the intruders. "RUN!" SweetSap yipped and bolted from the scene, quickly followed by the three. The timber wolf let out a loud bark and about a third of the pack was chasing right after the quartet. Loud barks from the timber wolf pack pushed the four faster than they had ever run before.

SweetSap panted heavily as his legs carried as fast as they could. The timber wolf pack was slowly catching up to them. "Over here guys!" AutumnsWind yapped, heading towards a small dirt den entrance. SweetSap made a sharp turn, just as a wolfs jaws come a whisker-length close to snapping onto his tail. He yipped and slipped under and into the den. Once every wolf was in, they all cowered towards the back or the den. It was quite spacious inside, despite having a tiny crack of an entrance. The timber wolves snapped the jaws outside and reached their paws inside the crack. SweetSap whimpered. "When do you think they'll leave?" LovesCurse said in a worried tone. "Hopefully s-" DeepWallows was cut off by a deafening howl. The timber wolves' head perked up and ran home obediently.
"Phew." AutumnsWind sighed as they all piled out of the den. "That was close." They all nodded. "Great, we're lost again.." LovesCurse groaned as she looked around their surroundings. Now, they were in rocky territory. They must've been chased to the edge of the mountains. She lifted her nose to the air in a search for any more wolf markers. "No wolves here, c'mon we have to find a place to rest for the night, it's getting darker by the minute." Taking lead, she padded through the trees. The trio followed the caramel-furred wolf.
"Hm, this looks good." She had found a fallen over log that had been hollowed out by some other creature. "Let's settle in here."
A while after they had all got comfortable in the tight den, a grumbling broke the silence. DeepWallows' ears perked.
