I AM in fact, an LOTR fan -- though I began with the 2001-2003 movies, went 'these are cool' and had to go backwards into books I already had because my parents had them.

I realized later that a movie that scared me as a tiny child because of the art style was in fact, The Hobbit (1977) so technically I had experience with it a lot sooner...I just didn't enjoy it then XD.

I will say, just from reading alone, Bilbo would be a favorite -- I can't say I can name a favorite character from the movies, the actors portraying each character each had their own unique flair and I love them all equally. Maybe, slightly more a movie-Pippin person, I suppose. Mostly because Boyd's singing voice shocked me?

As an adult, I am not as deep into it as I used to be though it is fun to discuss. My husband, however...holy heck. I feel like if I so much as whisper the name 'Legolas' he can give me a 500 page report on any of his background details. He is utterly obsessed with elf lore.

Very much so. I even wrote my final research paper to graduate with my English degree about The Hobbit and Tolkien. I adore the books and various of his other works, and all of the lore surrounding Middle-Earth. There is a certain comfort and motivation I get from blanketing myself in these adventures. Other than Star Trek, this is my favorite universe to study.

Indeed Star Trek is also one of my favorites as well, Over The Garden Wall is another tv series that I enjoy. Have you ever read C S Lewis's space trilogy? It is very good writing and I find myself getting lost in its pages.

My sister has a grudge against lotr, as she grew up watching the movies and is now resigned to hating it in its entirety. She has never read the books and is set not to.

I love lotr! I actually got really scared of the movies as a child and refused to watch them for years, but when I finally did I fell in love and I am now a major Tolkien nerd.

Big LotR fan and Tolkien fan in general :) I started with the LotR movies and finally read the books a few years ago. Since then I've been on a mission to read most (if not all) his works, both pre and posthumous.

I'm also a big Norse mythology/lore fan, and love the inspiration Tolkien drew from it when writing LotR.

Hey there! I'm still extremely new to LotR, as I've only read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring (And that was only a few months ago), but once I get the next book you bet I'll be diving straight into it! It's a great series!

I also hope to watch the movies someday, but they're so long... and I rather watch it with someone else, so... whenever a friend and I have time I'll try to watch them in bits and pieces! XD

My favorite characters so far are Bilbo, Balin, Gandalf, Frodo, and Legolas :)

Oh yes, I’m a bit of a Tolkien fan. I’ve currently got 9 books (11 if you count LotR as 3 books), and my favourite movie is probably return of the king. I finished reading the Hobbit on the day we were meant to go see battle of the five armies, and that wasn’t a fun way to find out what was gonna happen.

The Silmarillion is great and not too long, roughly the same page count as the Hobbit I think, but it’s stuffed full of so much information - it’d be lovely to see it adapted for TV by someone who fully understands how to do it properly, but I doubt that’ll happen.

My favourite character is probably Sam tbh, although I really like Glorfindel, Fili & Kili, and Elrond’s sons too.
