It has been five years since I've had to do any type of interview for a job and I get very nervous around new people and in high stress situations when I don't know what to expect.

Anyone  have any tips that they want to give out I'd really appreciate it

Firstly, congrats on the interviews!

I'm actually in a similar situation - I've been through several interviews trying to get a job in my field. I actually had one yesterday and one tomorrow. Both have made me feel physically ill with fear but I've been managing it with some of the stuff mentioned below. I've also rewarded myself afterwards with little things I like, ie time to play video games or making a nice hot apple cider to enjoy on the porch with a favorite podcast, whatever sort of thing that you enjoy doing.
This is what kind of works for me, depending on the day:
- I have a playlist I call my confidence playlist, which consists of a bunch of songs I know will either get me in a good mood or get me to sing along. I listen to that before hand so I'm not sitting alone with my own thoughts.
- If you can, take some walks or go outside for a little bit beforehand. I find my extremities get cold (yay panic), so when I walk around for a bit it tends to help keep my blood flowing instead of just in my core.
- I've found I always feel panicky until the moment I get in there - as long as I've done my looking into the company and job ahead of time. Since mine have been online recently, I've been keeping notes on my laptop with info about the company/position and my questions. If you can bring in notes or at very least questions, that may be helpful as well.
- I know it's common advice, but honestly smiling goes a long way. I think it helped with my confidence and making me feel more approachable/human, if that makes sense.

Every interview I've had so far has been very different. Generally my first one has been more of a culture/knowledge fit type interview, followed by a more in depth interview (I'm in the engineering field, so it may be different for you).

It's natural to feel nervous/anxious before an interview, especially when it's been an extended period. I think now would be a good time to mention that no matter how many interviews I've done or how much prep I do, I'm always anxious until it's over. What I've mentioned here helps me make it a lot more manageable and less straight panic the entire time.
Do you have any techniques that help you with dealing with nervousness/anxiety? Those may help as well.

Best of luck to you, I hope it goes well!

Thank you so much for this! I ended up nailing both interviews and ended up getting a completely different job than what I was interviewing for!
