Pack of the Echoing Mist Lore WIP - read only

Pack History

Founded by Grey Moon during a crescent winter moon on deciduous forest territory, after he left his birth pack.

The wolves live in a cave system they dug underground, where the tree's roots can be seen entwining on the ceiling, sheltering it's inhabitants from the elements and pretecting them whautever enemy they may have. Nearby, a crystaline river offers water for the Pack to drink, and the forest gives them prey to eat and herbs to heal their ailments.

Traditions

The Pack of the Echoing Mist believes that wolves were created by the Moon Goddess, known as The Eternal, who collects their souls after they pass to live in Her Pack. They worship Her every full moon whith songs and tales that go well into the night. The Herbalists, besides healing the Pack, act as spiritual links between the mortal plane and The Eternal and their ancestors.

They give great value to their Elders, for their great wisdom that their age has given them. They are responsible for passing on the Pack's stories and legends to the future generations, so that they are not forgotten.

The members are given two names: the first one at birth, and the second after proving themselves worthy to be Echoing Mist wolves. The Alpha's second name will always be Moon to represent his position of leadership, and their pups are given the second name Star to show their parentage.

Adolescents will become apprentices to adult wolves that are part of the rank they will be part of once grown.

Herbalists are all males - that is so they don't have to take some time off when or if they have pups.

Any wolf can become Alpha, although the children and descendents of the current leader tend to be the first choice. They have to be trained by the current Alpha to properly take over the responsibilities that come with that role.

A kind, capable, - if sometimes aloof and secretive - leader, he set the foundations for the Pack of the Echoing Mist.

Highlithts of his era:

Beta Ivy Shade divised the current hunting system using different parties that is used in the Pack.

Herbalist Maple Patch led an expedition to dig a cave away from the Pack to quarentine sick wolves until they are cured, so they don't spread whatever ails them.

Stories of legend:

Grey Moon's Mother  

It is said that Grey Moon left his pack after it was defeated by a rival pack. He was but an adolescent, not yet fully trained in combat. So he hid with his mother - in vain. The rival wolves found them, and his mother sacrificed herself to protect him. Grey Moon saw everything before he ran away. 

Some moon's later, he met Ivy Shade and founded the Pack of the Echoing Mist - named after his mother.

This story is speculated by his Pack mates, as the Alpha does not deny or confirm it. He doesn't speak of this matter at all.
