Calling all Pokemon fans for help!

Calling all Pokemon fans for help!

Hello, Seawolf here! So I'm completely new to the Pokemon franchise, so I have no experience with the games. I have recently been thinking of getting a few games, but am having trouble deciding on them. It's between Sword or Shield, or Let's Go Eevee. I'd really appreciate some help from Pokemon fans! :)

Welcome to the fun!!

Between the two games they kind of have a different feel to it. Let's Go Eevee is kind of like a remake of the original games with the added bonus of getting to see your Pokemon beside you and is fun and nostalgic, but can still at some points feel like a remake of an older game mechanics wise. SwSh I really enjoyed getting to see the pokemon run around in an open world and I had fun with the story and camping system. I guess in my opinion, if you think you'll want to go back and play some of the older games, go with Let's Go because it's hard to go backwards, but if you just want to have fun and experience Pokemon grab SwSh first? Either way you should be in for a good time!!

Let's Go is a fusion of Pokemon Go and the early gens, whereas SwSh is the semi-newest gen (what with Legends: Arceus and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl scheduled for release in January and this November, respectively) I personally recommend Shield, but I'm a total sucker for Galar Ponyta.

If you’re new to the series, I would recommend Let’s Go Eevee, since that game is designed more for newcomers to the series. It’s good for helping you learn what Pokémon are and features simple battles without abilities, dynamaxing, or any other layers of complication. It’s also set in Kanto, which is the same region as the first Pokémon game, so it’s a great place to start!

Ohhh, ok, so Sword and Shield is the kinda game you can just explore everywhere, without having to do missions, and whatnot? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I know nothing haha.

So basically Let's Go is like a tutorial game, in a sense? I don't know if that's the right word to describe it.

Basically, yes. Sword and Shield do follow the basic pokemon structure of beat to gyms to further progress to encounter more pokemon, with the usual little side quests, but you could just chill out in rhe wild area and catch low level pokemon and start breeding without any badges.

Another newbies question, but is it possible to get stuck in either of the games? I figure since kids play them that they wouldn't make things that hard, but being a newb I just thought I should know.

Not really. If you get stuck, it's just a matter of leveling up your pokemon, or changing up your party to cover weaknesses.

lets go games are remakes with the benefit of seeing your pokemon and wild pokemon.

the sword and shield games are the newest pokemon games.  you are in the galar region.

in the sword and shield games you still have the basic structure of beating gyms to further progress in the story.

you can play the sword and shield games how you want.

That's good to know that I won't be stuck or anything Ori! Thanks for the help guys! I think I'm going along with sword or shield. Does anyone have anything more to add on Sw/Sh and their features?
