Ashes hiked through the stubborn rocks and rocky ground, pleased that the meeting space for this...Alliance...involved territory that she traversed well. She leaped off boulders to give her a boost every now and again, enjoying the chill of winter in her thick mountain coat. Through all her excitement from the simplicity of boulder jumping, she made an abrupt stop before she truly entered the circle of stones. A look behind her shoulder allowed her to glimpse her Second, grunting as he hastily tried to catch up to her. His white pelt glimmered in the light, and briefly Ashes worried that his pelt would be...rather obvious in a testy situation.
Her bright aqua gaze turned to the stars, and her eyes almost seemed to absorb their light and reflect it back. She muttered a hopeful plea under her breath. Please don't let this meeting be a mistake. I'm not good at these kinds of things.
She could've sworn that one glinted back at her. She blinked, but was startled by the deep, eager voice of her mate.

< :: Winter | Sea of Stars | Ashes' Second | Open/Solo Interaction :: >

Winter had watched with keen interest as his mate murmured to the sky. Her strange behavior did not surprise him at this point, but he was...not exactly privy to her true intentions. Nevertheless, he worked tirelessly to catch up to her before she leaped into the fray. The thought of her in a large gathering like this, without his help, worried him in just the slightest...and at the same time, he wanted to enjoy a gathering of local wolves on his own.
Winter saw that same worry in her large, wondering eyes. He nuzzled her scruff affectionately, in an attempt to ease the both of them. "You'll be fine. How about we go our separate ways, and if you ever need me don't hesitate to bolt across the whole clearing in a fuss."
He felt her chuckle. "Careful, I'm not that smitten with you."

Splitting off in opposite directions, the two wolves took their first steps into the crowd.

The dark-furred, large she-wolf looked around the gathering, her calm gaze trying to find someone to communicate to but with failed attempts. Majority of the wolves are already taken by other tribes and packs and she didn't wish to step in between them, as this is a time for wolves to know each other. But not wanting to give up, her white eyes continued to scan until she spotted her opportunity. She spotted two wolves that hopped into the gathering, one gray-and-black and the other white-and-black. As the two wolves nuzzle and walk off, Spirit decided to take this opportunity to potential make a new ally. The she-wolf approached the gray-and-black wolf and by a quick scent, she could tell it was another she-wolf.

"Greetings. I'm Spirit, Spirit's Chosen of The Spirit's Howl Tribe. And who might you be?" Spirit gave a polite bow of her head, her ears perked, ready for the other wolf's reply.

'Oh spirits...he finds me weird, doesn't he?' The golden-brown she-wolf thought as soon as she heard Bircheye's disinterested voice but she kept her ears perked up and her blue eyes clear from any worry gaze, not wanting to show any signs. Through her thoughts of anxiety and panic, she tried her best to listen to the other wolf, taking down important notes of him. Just as her disquiet thoughts were about to take control of her mind, Bircheye asked a question that managed to take her out of it. "So...what do you do for your pack, anyway? I'm guessin' talkin' ain't a big part of the job." With a direct question, she stood up straight but yet her gaze looked at everything but him.

"Oh uh...I'm a Healingleaf. My job is to heal wolves and make sure they're alright." Maple Leaf quietly barks a short answer, following by a few moments of dead silence. Maple Leaf, realizing her silent posture, quickly gave a question back. "Oh what about you? What is your job within your tri-..uh pack?" She panicky barks.

(( OOC; AAAAAAA sorry for the short post. I'm super rusty as of right now ^^; ))

Ashes turned her head in vague surprise. Someone already coming to talk? To her? In a flash she realized that she was the leader of her entire pack....and therefore most of the responsibilities and management belonged to her. They expected her to be the carrier of news, to show good or ill intent, to be the one to keep her own wolves in line. She had better start learning to rely on her own skills, if they were going to continue this. She quickly smoothed out her composure. She would be a leader.

Her bright aqua eyes shone with a calm friendliness, looking Spirit up and down and noting the subtle shades of black in her pelt. She dipped her head, mimicking the other she-wolf. Was she doing this right? “I am Ashes of the Moon- long name, I know, but you can simply call me Ashes. I lead the Sea of Stars- I am, uh, admittedly new to this “Alliance” thing...” Her eyes darted around nervously, and as she decided to take a seat to settle in for conversation, her bushy tail wrapped around her haunches as if she was protecting herself by shrinking as much as possible.

 Her friendly, easy demeanor returned as she looked into the eyes of Spirit. “Excuse me if this is a....personal question, but you call yourself Spirit’s Chosen? Might I ask what that means exactly?” And all the while, she watched other bustling wolves out of the corner of her eye. Maybe she could learn a thing or two before jumping headfirst into further interactions.

@#4905 - (Bircheye, Maple Leaf)

     Once Maple Leaf had answered his question, a staggering silence fell between them. Bircheye shifted around uncomfortably, then parted his maw to speak, but she beat him to the punch. And for that he was thankful.
     "Scout," he responded briskly. "Uh... Lead Scout," he clarified. It wasn't necessarily with pride, but more like the kind of grumpy awkwardness he seemed to always exude. Then he looked down at his forepaws. Then he looked up at the night sky, up at the big, full moon. Then he looked straight at Maple Leaf.
     "I'm not really good at this," he told her. "Talkin', I mean..." Then his eyes cut away from her as he scoffed with a smirk. "Least you ain't much better," he said. "We got that much in common."
     Another heavy quiet was starting to grow between them, like an irksome little weedling, but Bircheye quickly snuffed it out.
     "Never really understood the point of...small talk," he spat the words out with mild disdain. "Seems kinda stupid to me. Like...like it means somethin' if we sit here 'n' talk about stuff that don't even matter..." He shook his head and cast his scornful gaze away from Maple Leaf, careful not to send the wrong message. It wasn't her he was mad at, if he even could call himself mad. Which...wasn't exactly right, but... The thought troubled him. If it wasn't anger, then what was it? Before he could get pulled into the recesses of his ever-pondering mind, he pulled himself back to reality.
     "Least what you do is important. Healingleaf," he said the word carefully and properly. "Keepin' your pack alive and well...that's somethin' that really matters, y'know? Tough job, I bet. Our Healer's got no time for relaxin'," he smirked.

@#3424 - (Sheepsong, Winter's Sun)

     Sheepsong had done her best to keep her work off her mind. But time and time again she would just be nodding along to whoever she was speaking with, listening but not quite paying attention. Instead she would be doing an herb inventory in her head, recalling recipes and making notes to restock medicines. It hadn't taken many frustrated walkaways for Sheepsong to realize that perhaps she should just relax for once.
     Her dainty paws paced towards the outer edge of the bundle of wolves. Her head hung low and her short tail hung somehow even lower. Sheepsong saw a new wolf's forepaws right before she bumped into them. A little startled (and a lot embarrassed), she stood upright and instantly hurled apology after apology their way.
     "Oh my stars, I'm so sorry," she was saying frantically, before her deep blue eyes even met theirs. At the sight of piercing yellow she stopped short. With a nervous chuckle she took a pawstep or two back, giving him his personal space and, more importantly, giving him some respect. She thought in that moment to excuse herself, to give up on the night as a whole and accept the fact that future gatherings would not be her place. Or, she thought, she could give it one more try. What could it hurt?
     "My humblest of apologies," she said to him sincerely. "I'm Sheepsong of Brightstar Clan...perhaps the clumsiest one among us all!" She laughed a little harder this time, freely poking fun at herself for her misstep. She shook out her plush pelt, and she offered him a friendly smile. In the moments between her speaking and him responding, she started to wonder if she might be able to find some feverfew on the way back home... But, blinking a few brisk times, she reeled herself in and listened earnestly.

< :: Winter | Sea of Stars | Ashes' Second | @4166 :: >

Winter had seen the seemingly occupied wolf out of the corner of his eye, and while he had plenty of time to dodge, he stayed right where he was. He figured that any sort of conversation, even formed out of an accidental run-in, would be a good way to start off- maybe for the both of them. And now, his own mind was preoccupied with all the possibilities of why she was preoccupied. His curiosity had made way for this wolf.
He shook out his thick pelt. "Please, no need to apologize! This place is crowded, don't you think? I wonder how many legendary bump-ins will go down in history here." Subconsciously, he repeated the name over and over, turning it inside out so as not to forget. Stars forbid he forgot the name of the first ever wolf he met at this place. With a slight bow of his head, he introduced himself. "I am Winter's Sun of the Sea of the Stars, but you can call me Winter for short."
The male's speech continuously shifted between a very formal tone and a light, humorous tone, as if he couldn't decide between the two. He pondered slightly if he would ever be able to break that habit, before he tuned back into the conversation.
Winter's bright yellow eyes looked the she-wolf up and down briefly. "If I may be so forward, what is it that is causing your mind to wander? This is an important event, what could take higher priority in your mind?" The question did not come from a need to mock- he almost sounded concerned. As if a wolf he just met was one that immediately earned his care and attention.
