In the Grey Hare pack the king is the leading female wolf of the pack and she rules alongside her mate who typically will only mate with her, though for diplomatic or alliance reasons, he may mate with other packs. Typically, they're the only wolves that will mate within the pack, but it's understood that things may happen that they don't expect and this may not always be true. Depending on the intention, anything that may stray from this behavior may be punished.

The betas of the pack are the first son and daughter of the ruling pair. They are often only a year or two younger than the alpha pair and thus will not have an opportunity to take over as they will often die soon after the leading pair, but they are understood to be an authority of their own though their word can never override the word of the alphas unless they acknowledge that they should rule in their cede until the intended heir should take over. The older of the two betas will be given priority, but in terms of taking over for a senile alpha, it will be determined by if it is the male or female.

The intended heir will come from the second to last or last litter or the youngest daughter and they will determine the name of the next era. The first era is Black Tine Moon. The King wolf will have Moon added to the end of their name, their mate will have Sun and their two Betas will have Star. The intended heir will be Moonlet. It is the Moonlet's duty to find a fit mate when they take the Kingship.

The Advisor is either a wolf considered wise, but otherwise unattached to the pack, or a sibling the current alpha trusts capable of giving an opinion selflessly. A wolf that is seen to be working in their own interest instead of that of the pack will either be asked to step down or be banished depending on the severity of their actions.

The healer is as straightforward as the title suggests. They are responsible for taking care of ailing wolves and assuring that illness doesn't persist within the pack. They may also decide if a wolf is deserving of their ailment as decided by the Silver Forest, the paradise that the Grey Hare pack recognizes under the gods Black and White. A wolf that has died will have "Forest" added to the end of their name to indicate their death in the records.

Servants are wolves that are not attached to the ruling family, but have decided to join out of deference for them with the understanding that they will not take a mate of their own. They are respected members of the pack as much as the ruling family.

Omegas are the wolves left behind to care for the cubs, either from lack of ability to do otherwise or because they don't have the right temperament for the field or simply because they have a good temper for cubs. They aren't necessarily lowly wolves, but some are more bitter than others at their lot. It can be a hard job to have and they are often the scapegoats when cubs die though they're rarely to blame as there are any number of reasons for a cub not to survive. Though cubs are fed first and are considered with the utmost care, it is also consider holy intervention for a cub to die.

Year 1
In the first year, Decrelit Black Tine and Effelt Grey Wing found each other and joined to form the Grey Hare pack and thus were the founders of said pack. Effelt wasn't alone and was with his friend, Averent whose fur was blindingly bright and so he would be counted in the founding of the pack. He served to advise them, having a few years on the both of them and having little interest in gain outside of seeing the pack flourish.

Decrelit knew that often times a wolf pack could consist of only mates and their children, but she didn't want her pack to suffer in the first years and so would allow loners who had lost hope in forming a pack of their own to join them. Her and Effelt found three wolves. Quazin, Yulily and Monlez agreed to serve them and in turn would have the security of a pack that would home and feed them and assure they would not fall ill. Yulily and Monlez hunted well with them, but Quazin was pessimistic and didn't hunt well.

However, Quazin got along well with the cubs that Decrelit had and was more than glad to stay in the den with them to take care of them while Decrelit was out taking care of the pack. His dour attitude was a great amusement for cubs and he took pride in caring for them.

The first two cubs were two grey sons named Evergard and Barnias. Evergard was named "Cover" for the splash of brown on his back. Barnias was called "Stone" for how grey he was, even his eyes. Evergard was very humble and thus gained his parents favor, good with the hunters and honest. Barnias was conceited and considered himself better than most wolves and so was sent to explore territories outward when they were grown.

Decrelit was filled with anxiety over disease. She knew that without a proper healer, a pack could quickly find itself wiped out within a year and so she found the wolf Arkis. Arkis was a wolf that was brown like a bear and so she guessed he would do well with the bear responsible for teaching the pack until he could pass down his knowledge to their future healers.

Nothing of particular note happened in the first year aside from the rise of a new pack. They fed well and none fell fatally ill due to the leadership of Decrelit and Effelt and the advise of Averent.

Second Year
In the second year, four cubs were born and Decrelit and Effelt rejoiced in their good fortune. It was considered a boon, especially after their first two sons proved so great and resourceful.
These four cubs were Andreco Firecub, Jeff Redcub, Finnas Softcub and Bathory Bloodcub.
The occasion was a chance for further celebration at the birth of Decrelit's first daughter, Bathory, who she loved dearly and was eager to see grow to learn at her side. As it stood, it wasn't meant to be. Before she grew to be an adolescent, Bathory was killed out of Quazin's sight after wandering off.

Decrelit knew that such things were sacred and did her best not to hold it against him, but a bitterness filled her heart from that day on.

Later in that year, it was revealed that Quazin Sharptail and Monlez SIlverbright had eloped long enough to become pregnant with four cubs, but finding themselves ill prepared to raise them themselves, returned to the pack unable to do anything else. Decrelit wanted to lash out in anger at them, but Effelt pleaded with her to have mercy as he was aware of where her anger laid.

Instead, she swore to them that their children and any children they may have would be cursed with becoming servants of the pack, lesser than the rest. Her anger burned especially bright for the fact that Quazin, in his failure, had learned from his mistake and his own daughter survived.
The cubs they had were called Allia Bonecub, Braska Snowcub, Linfar Storkcub and Minksy Searcub.

Year 3
In the third year Andreco became Firecall, Jeff became Redheart and Finnas became Softpelt. All three became hunters.
Allia became Boneheart, Braska became Snowtail, Linfar became Storkflame and Minsky became Searclaw and they became hunters.

In the Third year, near the end of the second, there was a culling of cubs. Many were left orphaned and the Grey Hare Pack took in a number of them. There were 22 in all, but only three remained. Sirah Firecub and Cocomo Foxcub were siblings or cousins that were kept and Hushtra Marshcub. They grew into Sirah Firesong, Cocomo Foxstream and Hushtra Marshsilver. Sirah and Jeff became close and thus became mates, though as of yet have had cubs in the third year.

Decrelit, soaked in grief at the loss of her daughter, had four sons. This would be her last litter and so she gave up in despair at a lack of a female heir. It was said that part of the reason she kept Sirah was out of grief for her lack of daughter and that mercy was extended to Hushtra. Cocomo was very clever, kind and charming and so it was natural he was kept on.

As it was, it became obvious to those who watched Decrelit that she struggled to love her youngest sons though she did her best to raise them properly and so most of the efforts were from Effelt.
Her youngest sons were as followed: Obris Shadefall, Denyli Masksight, Ollin Duskcatcher and Garsha Mudface.

In order to obtain the love they were denied from their mother, they found other mentors in the clan.
Obris spent much of his time with the servants and wanted to become an Omega to care for the cubs.
Denyli decided to become a hunter and learned from the servants.
Garsha knew Arkis was getting on in age and became his apprentice as a healer.
Ollin was aware that the first hunters were growing older and became studying to take their place.
