Coefficient of Inbreeding Consultations!

Posted 2021-04-23 23:58:02

Gamy - Good news! The wolf you linked is outcrossed - because his parents aren't related at all, his COI is 0%. I went back through the line anyway and he does have an ancestor (3 generations back) with a COI of 12.5%, which is the pup of Ephialtes and Hydrangeas.  In the long run, an inbred ancestor isn't very impactful as long as the line is outcrossed to unrelated wolves.

How inbred is Torrid? He has some ancestors which have some very similar lineages and I’m curious if it’s genetically bad or not

How inbred are Butter and her daughter Smudge? And what would be the COI for one of Smudge’s pups, given that her mate doesn’t share any common ancestors? Thank you so much for doing this, it’s super neat!

Edit: Okay wait... if I understand this correctly, despite Butter having inbred ancestors, her, her daughter, and her hypothetical grandchildren have a COI of 0?

Vel - Torrid's COI is 0.085%. Very low, so genetically not bad.

Badger - Your edit is correct, Butter, her daughter, and her hypothetical grandchildren have a COI of 0% because the inbreeding was outcrossed.

So I picked up this guy because of his stats, but he's got the same grandfather on both sides. Just curious as to how this relates via numbers?

Auvry - Snapper's COI is 12.5%, fairly high.  He sure is pretty, though.

He's pretty and I like his stats! I'm not planning on breeding him, even for out-crossing, so I was just curious about the numbers. Thank you :3

Hello, I'm not looking for a coi but I was hoping you could help. It says you can figure out inbreeding for a future pair and I'm hoping this is what you can help me with. I'm dyslexic and reading 1 wolf's lineage is a challenge on its own for me let alone trying to make sure there's no common ancestors in both. I'm trying to create the longest 'Completely Clean' line. However, if I did miss a common ancestor, little bit of me is curious of the coi for the pair. Then I'll begin a new search for an unrelated male XD

The Male I'm hoping to breed her too: wolvden.com

RavenThorn - Cool project, I'm happy to help! I checked and those two prospective wolves don't have any common ancestors.  I have their pedigrees saved so if you want me to check for future generations, it will be really easy for me.
