Jewel was in the forest in her cheetah form just minding her own business.. mainly hunting for food when she stepped in a hunters trap. She  growled when it snapped onto her leg. " those hunters again...."

She made a whimper hoping someone or something would come to her rescue.

Mavis had just finished putting on her shoes, slipping outside with a small smile gracing her lips. She stepped through the small garden just outside the the front door to the small cabin she called home, a woven basket clasped in her hand. While she preferred the area surrounding the house, the thick canopy of the various trees made it impossible to grow a few types of herbs. The young woman walked rather silently, only given away by the faintest crunch of dew soaked leaves, before she froze, gaze darting to the side as an odd noise reached her ears. It sounded like an odd, pathetic whine, a noise she was unfamiliar with. Despite the prickle of nerves coursing over her figure, curiosity tugged her towards the noise where she was shocked to discover a large, lean feline quite some distance away. She couldn't help but stare as she stood stiffly, resembling a deer caught in headlights.

Jewel pulled at the trap as best she could before finally getting freed  a while later " those stupid hunters need to find a better place to put those" she said limping off very slowly to her little den deep in the thicket. But before she walked to her den she grabbed some water from the stream that was nearby and stayed their for some time.  cleaning the blood off her  leg. She winced at the pain, but didnt move.

she sensed that someone was there, but didnt acknowledge them. She didnt want to have them find out who she was. She she just stayed by the water till the path was clear.

Mavis watched quietly as the creature managed to tear her leg free from what she realized was a hunter's foothold trap, by the shape of what was left behind. While the logical part of her brain reminded her that interacting with a big cat would likely end poorly for herself, she felt rather bad for the now injured animal. Glancing down at her rather empty basket, she swallowed the lump growing in her throat and began to follow the stench of blood.

It didn't take her long to find the feline again, considering the limping animal had stopped at a small stream and seemed to be cleaning it's wound in an odd manner. This time she made her presence clear, cautiously stepping forward until she was only a few paces from it. "I know you have no clue what I'm saying, but I can help if you don't attack me." Mavis spoke up, attempting to seem calm in this abnormal situation.

Jewel  heard  steps coming from behind and she turned around baring her sharp teeth I'm.. fine.." she said slowly limping towards Mavis. " Or at least I would have been if that trap wasnt there in the middle of my forest!" she said more to herself than to the stranger " What is it you want.. " 

Jewel walked off away from the stranger but then stopped and looked back at her with her lean neck.  What was that basket for  she thought. She would have to ask when it was a better time. " Dont worry I wont attack you." he brown eyes staring into Mavis eyes, waiting to see what they would do.

The display of her deadly teeth made her flinch, quickly forcing herself to steady her breathing and blinked slowly as the animal began to talk, confusion slowly building up. The mention of the cheetah owning the forest almost made her laugh, instead cracking a tiny smile. Most of the land around them was owned by the government for hunting seasons with a few sparse acres of land owned by said hunters. Although she was surprised to find that the feline wasn't chased out by some other animal that occupied the area.

"I was just going to try to help. It looks like the trap got your leg pretty good. If you don't do something about it, it could get a lot worse." Her voice began to trail off into a mumble as she realized that she spoke more than she needed too. The promise of her saftey managed to sooth her nervous buzz a bit, managing to stand with a somewhat looser posture.

" i said I dont need help." Jewel snarled " but thanks for offering"

She then walked off to the den and rested for most of the day. The heat wasnt doing her any good and  she had a plan to try and find the hunter she was caught by a few moments ago  " And dont follow me"

Her snarl tore the smile off her lips, taking a startled step backwards as her breath hitched nervously. "Sorry." She whispered as the stranger left, quickly turning away from the spot and making her way towards her intended destination.

Mavis's free hand came up to grasp her forearm, rubbing a small patch of skin while she walked. She quickly found the slightly trampled path, worn from days of her own travel. Eventually she arrived at the small clearing, carefully tending to the few mounded plants and taking a handful of stalks to place in her basket before starting on her way back.

Jewel  got the rest she needed before going out of the den and went to go hunting. " And there better not be another hunters trap" she growled. The sun was lower in the sky, but still hot. 

She trotted along the forest floor till she came to a hunters hunting area and spotted a deer. She made sure she was hidden well enough so that she could get a good start on her chase.  She gave a growl and went off in chase mode. It took her a few tries to take it down, but she soon was eating away the deer meat. In peace.
