Pokesona Folks + Pokemon Lovers

This is a thread for discussing Pokemon, but to keep it civil and lighthearted, I'm gonna ask that it be your favorite pokemon, favorite game, etc. Something light. Good vibes only! If you have anything negative to say please keep it short. Example: "x wasn't my favorite game but I like y about it." Got it?

Let me start by saying that Diamond is my favorite game, Emerald is a close second, and I also have a soft spot for Sun and Moon. I really like the story of Black and White on the DS.

If anyone here on Wolvden has Pokesonas, I wanna know what made you choose a certain pokemon? My partner and I loved the series as kids and we've binged the Indigo and Johto parts of the anime. It was very nostalgic and also kinda corny. But still holds up today. Anyway, I've been wanting to make us both Pokesonas. But I don't wanna go for uber-popular pokemon just cuz they're cool... I want pokemon that fit us, ya know? I've always thought sonas were so neat.

Ooh Pokemon Emerald was the first Pokemon game I played. Still my favourite. Haven't played the most recent ones (Black and White forward). I spent most of my childhood watching the anime (I was barely 2 years old when I started watching (⊙ △ ⊙) ).

Which leads me to my favourite Pokemon, Treecko! I can't describe how much I love them. Second favourite is Charizard.

Never had a pokesona, but if I had it would probably be a Zigzagoon, because they're curious and look like a raccoon, and I relate to raccoons for some reason :D

just gonna revive this

So. I got back into pokemon again after a brief break, and I may have jumped back in by bullying the ghosts at the Watch Tower with a liepard. My first pokemon game I played was either red or leaf green, but first owned was either soul silver, or diamond pearl and platinum. My current stash has Y, White, Super Mystery Dungeon, Omega Ruby, Crystal, Yellow, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Shield, as well and Pokemon Bank and Home, Cafe, and Go. My favorite type is actually a toos up between ghost, dark, and poison, which tends to pop up in the form of destructive poison-types dropping a toxic before swapping for an angry spook with venoshock. And there may or may not be a box dedicated to snom and frosmoth because möth.

My favorite Pokémon game of ALL time is Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. I could literally go on for hours and hours why that game is so amazing and special to me, and why I like it even more than the main series Pokémon games. Out of all the main games, I would say Soul Silver is my favorite, due to the HUGE amount of content and the walking with Pokémon mechanic. My favorite Pokémon are Ninetales, Zacian, Fennekin, Eevee, Umbreon, Absol, and Lycanroc.

My first Pokemon game was Blue, we played it with an emulator we had in our middle school's computer room. My first legit game was Silver, which is by far my favorite generation (I even got the legendaries tattooed as a conmemorative piece just a month ago). I do too have a soft spot for Sun/Moon and I loved the anime style change they introduced for that gen <3

In another Pokemon-centered forum I got interested in alt play styles. I was never a fan of doing Nuzlockes myself, but I did enjoy playing Monotype challenges. That's when Poison types became my all time favorites (Ivysaur and Nidorino being my top favs). I also replay randomized games and with self imposed rules to make them more fun and challenging, or to use Pokemon I'd have never picked otherwise. I'm a big fan of fan made roms as well but don't tell Nintendo I said that.

I've been meaning to try monotype and nuzlocke myself. Might be fun to try a normal or ghost monotype run. Though a normal rype run might almost definitely see me bullying onyxs with sand attacks like I did in Yellow, beating Brock with a single Pidgey. Hmm, maybe a starter route bird challenge, starly, pidgey, spearow, taillow, pidove, and hoothoot. Don't tell Nintendo, but the fan-made Pokemon Uranium is my all time favorite.

A bird challenge sounds fun and unique! Could also double as a Normal Monotype if you squint a bit and ignore the dual type, most of them are Normal/Flying anyways. You can always throw in some classic extra rules like limiting the usage of certain items and changing the battle settings to "Set" so you can't switch Pokemon before your rival sends a new one.

I think playing Adventure Red Chapter was the most fun and I absolutely loved it.

Looks like it's time to set up another switch account and get a bundle of lv1 birbs and ruin Bede and Hop's days again.

@Ori Haha thanks! I honestly thought Pokemon would be more popular here but I guess not

Snom is a precious bean, I agree.

@Elderscroller yesssss, Explorers of Sky was so good!!! For a long while it was my favorite game of all time, even beating out the main games. I don't like the way the handled Rescue Team DX: it did add some needed QoL things but it also took some things away, like the friend areas not being explorable. I really miss walking around those. The updated art work for the areas was nice though!

For some reason I could never get into SoulSilver? Everybody claims it's the best game, it seems, and it's good but I never got past the second gym. Maybe it's because I didn't play Johto as a child so it's not nostalgic for me?
