Writing Lore tips???

Hello!!
So I'm not new to the game as I've been playing for 4 months straight (I don't have a life lol)
However, I am not very educated in writing lore. I have been interested in doing so for months but I don't believe I'm confident in my writing abilities.
I have plans for erasing my current pack and creating a new one! (Once I make enough GC to do so)
Any tips for a very inexperienced writer??

Hey there! I'm not super experienced on here, so maybe someone else will be able to give better specific advice, but I've been writing for a long time, so maybe some of this could be helpful? I'm going to give advice about worldbuilding/lore creation itself, because I don't know if I could give writing style advice without knowing a bit more about what you're struggling with and aiming for, but if you'd like a hand on that side of things too, please feel free to let me know! I like talking about this kind of stuff haha

So, something that helps me create lore/backstories is making one small, even kind of silly decision, and then asking, okay, if this is true, what else would have to be true? Let's decide, for example, that my wolf is terrified of spiders. Well, if my wolf is afraid of spiders, what happened to make him feel that way? Does the rest of the pack notice? Has this become a running joke? How does he feel about the teasing? Does it change how he interacts with the others? Is a particular member of the pack good at calming him down? Is this because they have a special relationship? So, right there, we just went from a tiny little fact and it gave some insight into some more important character dynamics. And, each of those questions can branch off into questions of their own, too. Not everything needs to be based around one single aspect of your character, but you'll find that people often have a tangled web of backstory and personality traits that connect in interesting ways, rather than a bunch of traits that exist independently of each other.

You can do the same thing if you're writing the lore for a culture or society, too. Your starting point could be the environment they live in, a special custom they have, what their food is like, etc. Give yourself a small starting place, and let the details grow from themselves. You're in charge of the story, so you get to decide how realistic or how fantastical you want things to be. But in general, people will often feel that fantasy stuff feels more "realistic" if it's consistent within itself, and consistent with how humans (or whatever creatures you're writing about) behave and think.

If you get stuck, that's ok! Never hurts to take a break and come back with a fresh mind. It really does get easier with practise, and the more you work on it, the more you get to know your own style and preferences.
