What’s your lead/heir strategy?

What’s your lead/heir strategy?

Title! If you joined at the start of public access and have been rolling over daily, your first wolves are about middle-age now, and there’s no better time to start grappling with mortality :D

Do you have a system, gameplay- and/or lore-wise, for choosing the future lead? Are you planning that at all? Or maybe you’ve already replaced your starting wolf—if so, why? Feel free to show off your future lead(s) and infodump about your lore, I’m curious!

I joined at EA, but I’m fairly irregular with the whole rolling over thing. My starters are about 3 years old so I’ve got plenty of time with them but I’ve been preparing Potomac’s heir since the first day.

Any wolf that is descended from my current lead is in the running to be my heir. They are the Royal Line. When the time comes I might ask other players to vote for one of my favorites to become the next lead, or I might just let them vote for any wolf in the Royal Line den.

Once the next lead is appointed all Royal Line wolves (unless descended from the new lead) will be moved to the regular pack den and the new lead’s children, grandchildren, etc will stay in the Royal Line den.

The only real requirement is they are related to Potomac somewhere down the line, and they are not inbred.

My self imposed rule is my new lead must always be a NBW female. I already have my replacement on standby as my featured wolf.

My pack's name is "The Lost Sisters." So, this is my lead finding a new heir like they were "found" to take over every generation.

Also, this helps me to not make the game too easy by breeding stat monsters to take over the lead role.
