Art Pricing help

Hiii
I'm new here so my grasp of currency isn't great so I'd like to get help with this. I'm thinking about opening an art shop for WD currency. Just GC and SC for now since I don't know much about useful items and such.

If there's no interest I won't bother ^^

I both humanoid and feral art, although I'm a little stronger on the former.
You can see more examples on my TH Gallery

Thanks for any help ;;w;;

You manage all sorts of complexities so I'd definitely stay open to increasing/varying the price depending on how difficult of a character they are! Especially since you manage all sorts of clothing and feral accessories ~

If you're unsure on prices, you're always open to setting ranges/PWYWs with a minimum/base price; and regardless of your choice, you can always change it in the future if you feel its too low or too high for the time it takes you. I don't doubt your art would get a lot interest, so you shouldn't feel too put off just by feeling a bit unsure on prices if you want to do it! Plus you can always accept offers on certain sized pieces/commissions if you're particularly unsure.

Personally I would happily pay anywhere from 10-20GC easy for any sort of half/full body, likely more. I think it'd definitely depend on the complexity of the character/how much is included and even just how comfortable you are with it!

If you're open to things like just a sketch/only a flat piece, then I think that could definitely lower the price depending on how time consuming they are. Definitely be sure not to take the time you spend lightly ~

For your adorable headshots (be it just headshots/busts, or icons), I'd definitely be happy 5-10-15GC, again, more in this case too depending on the usual complexities/time it takes or even just for the quirks you add.

I think in terms of SC, people usually range from 1GC = 100SC, to 125-200SC? But you can always just tweak that to the amount of SC you feel matches your time ^^

Your shading is - gorgeous and honestly your refined pieces are beautiful, so don't shy away from pricing it a lil high 🥺

As for adopts, honestly taking offers might be your best bet. Especially if you're not certain on pricing right now, it might help to gauge interest by seeing what hits or not.

Kannnnn!! <33

I think Synco and Hall have already summed up what I want to say, to be honest. You're super talented and very capable of complex designs/characters. I think that starting out, PWYW prices could be the best way to go; with a minimum set price on each type of art, if that makes sense. e.g. busts have a minimum of 5GC, half bodies a minimum of 10GC, and so forth. But you know that I'm willing to throw 50GC at you just because I love you and you are a wonderful person and artist UwU

As for full bodies, based on other commissions I've gotten here for prices, typically range from 10GC to 25GC, if that gives you a sort of indicator for general market pricing. I don't really look around much for half bodies, but I would certainly pay at least 15GC for one, and at least 10GC for a headshot/bust. You have an absolutely gorgeous art style, so don't worry about possibly overpricing. I mean, if you think about it, in our server, you charge around 30 GBP for a custom design/revamp, and that's about $40, which is about 160GC. I do definitely agree with Synco; if you want to sell designs, you could definitely do auctions, whether that be for WD currency or irl currency. Of course, depending on the complexity of the characters people want done, if you choose to have set prices, you can likely ask for a bit more. I would definitely charge more if you want to do shaded and unshaded pieces, because your shading is top tier (and the way you do your EYES omg).

Generally speaking, and disregarding the fact that our squad will yeet money at you, I would definitely start off with PWYW prices with a minimum, and once you get a good feeling about how much you want to charge/where you are, then you can sort of solidify your prices. Your art is absolutely gorgeous, and definitely worth selling here <3

Hope to see you around, Kan ;)

I found you Fool <3

Hall took the majority of the words right out of my mouth, so I'll try to be as original as possible:

WD's economy is still in rough patches and as you can see, there's a whole lot of competition out there in the art shops. But there's no doubt about it that people will be interested in your work because it's absolutely a gorgeous art style (and even if you don't get any customers- which I highly doubt- know that your simp market will fill in the blanks for you)

Like Hall mentioned, I would definitely say start with a PWYW shop and set some minimum prices (because we don't take kindly when people undercharge Fool smh my head) so you can get a feel for how much your art is really worth in in-game currency. And then as you go along, I would maybe up your minimums or if you're courageous enough, actually set some prices for comms!

I really wouldn't recommend going off the bat with charging real high prices though. From what I'm seeing in art sales, charging a high price can be offputing and can result in few customers entering your shop. In my honest opinion, I would pay at least 20 GC for a fullbody, 10-15 GC for a halfbody, and 10 GC for a headshot. If you're setting up mins in general, the lowest I would pay is 10 GC and if you're setting mins based on the type of commissions, then the prices above would be a good start.

Your adopts are wonderful and I think flat sales would be nice to start with, anywhere between 15-30 GC, depending on the complexity of the design. I'm sure that people here will go for them as much as they did on other sites, I have no doubt about it.

Basically, to sum up my thoughts, your art is definitely worth selling here. You already have a simp base who will gladly come into your shop and throw their money at you and hopefully, other people will follow suit. They would be stupid not to. If it means not buying from any more artists, then I will happily throw the rest of my savings to you <3

Fooool you know your art is absolutely stunning and I hope you won't be too overwhelmed when folks will inevitably flock you for your amazing arts <3 I think the usual triage of literate Fool simps detailed everything I would have said about pricing and I've nothing to really add lmao

I do think a PWYW could work best in the beginning though! Prices are easily changeable :3 And I don't think you'll need to worry about setting a minimum cause for sure we'll be setting the bar for the rest of the folks on Wolvden xD

Oh, since I don't think anyone mentioned adopts or ref sheets (if you're doing the latter), I'd say maybe 15-25 GC for your adopts and 30-50 GC for refs, the lower range being for on-base and the higher range being for off-base ofc. Generally though, I think your art will be in very high demand since it's a polished, clean style with gorgeous shading and c'mon, who can resist Fool eyes <333

In fact, you can probably sell art of just eyes-

I'd buy ;P
