Open a door

Howdy all! Since it's been 3 days since Miz posted the results and there hasn't been a post from the pup winner (no judgement, people get busy and whatnot) I thought I'd do one to keep the thread going.  [If that's not cool, please let me know.]

Story-time......

Once upon a time the most attractive, smartest, best smelling wolf in all the world decided to set out on their own and see what they could see.  They climbed over mountains, crossed rivers, padded across prairies; they lost track of the times the sun and moon crossed the sky, and could not guess how many steps they had taken. 

One day the wolf stopped, looked around, and smiled.  This was what they had been looking for, home.  This was where they would gather other like-minded wolves and start working toward their goals and dreams. 

Over the next few days the Pack Leader, and those that joined them, began doing all the things a pack does. They made comfy dens. They hunted game and gathered herbs, laid in stores for winter. They had pups and planned for more. They scouted surrounding territories and fought their enemies.

On the fifth day the Pack Leader stepped from their den and a tingle ran down their spine, something would happen today. First they made a terrible bowl movement. Then, feeling better after drinking a concoction made by the Herbalist, they ventured into the forest.

..... turds.....from a herbivore.....and damp earth....and fluffiness......YES! A RABBIT WARREN!

.....a tickle-y musty smell......dry.....kind of earthy.....unclear..... BUT INTRIGUING!

....fish.....yes, definitely fish.....but something under the fish smell.....fur?.....WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!

Which "DOOR" will you choose?

You stick you head into the rabbit den, sniffing and digging furiously.  Sadly, the rabbits seemed to have moved on. However they did leave behind a Lucky Foot!

The fishy scent leads you to edge of the clearing. An old oak tree leans at a precarious angle, the tree is clearly dying, leaves are scarce, branches are broken and there is a hollow several feet up the trunk, that is where the interesting smells are coming from.  After much jumping and scrabbling you manage to climb old tree and stick you head in the hole. Ah, now you see, an owls nest. The remains of the owls past meals are what you were smelling....not good for much. But you do find an Owl Claw and an Owl Feather. Maybe your pups would like to play with them.

The scent is faint and hard to follow, but you are determined.  It seems to follow the stream, you find a root that seems to have been gnawed on by tiny teeth, a bit further a clump of dandelions has been pulled up by the roots and left to dry in the sun, and just as you think you've lost the scent you find small paw prints on the muddy bank of the stream.  Coming around a bend there is dirt smeared pup snuffling and scrabbling at a rock, what is he trying to do?  You approach and ask. He happily tells you that he's training to be an herbalist. When you ask where his pack is he replies that he doesn't know and that he's lost. Strangely, he doesn't seem to be very upset by this. You tell him that he'd better come stay with your pack, as it's dangerous for pups to be out alone.  He happily grabs the dandelions and follows you home.
