Shaman's Society?

Shaman's Society?
Posted 2020-10-02 20:40:47

Hey guys! Seeing as we have illnesses in this game and have wolves trained to do this sortor thing, why not set up an alternative practitioners society? Good for trading herbs, learning new things about medicine, and reaching out and helping other wolves that don't have medical help!

Let me know if you are interested and I will set up a Discord for us to discuss medical knowledge and clinical practices in!

I'd love to see this become a thing, but I would think about a name change to possibly the Herbalist Society or Herbalist/Herbal Collective? Shaman is an iffy title to use and has ties to closed cultures and practices; if it's based solely in the game's lore then it might be considered offensive to try and use another closed religion/practice's name when "Herbalism" has been offered as the name for it within the game and has no issues tied to it.

I'm unsure if shaman is a bad term, it's been used for a bunch of different people's practices all over the world at this point,  I myself practice shamanism (not based in any particular culture)   but we can do some more research if it's an issue people have with the name

I'm a witch so I've seen it used in ties to multiple practices; depending on the context of using the word it can change drastically. Thank you for taking the time to do more research 🙏 I just want to be sure, as someone who isn't a Shaman, that it's okay to utilize the term.

I look forward to seeing this group/clan come to fruition!~

Every culture has different words for the same practice! The use of Shaman is widely used and accepted. It isnt being used in a demeaning of derogatory way :)

I did use Shaman as a general term to project the idea of what it was for. The name I wanted to go for is Medicine Dog's Medical Society (like medicine man see XD) Also appreciate the bit of support guys! I'm gonna do another bump before work tomorrow and make the Discord in the next few days when I'm off!

Now I will put ground rules in the chat, but I will mention it is a medical society meant for that only. I would appreciate talks of religion to be at a minimal. Not getting on to you guys I just feel it would put squabbling on the back burner and helping the public on the front!
