My sister is hosting a one shot campaign for Christmas! I’m hype. I wanna hear bout y’all’s characters.

my character for the one shot is a tiefling warlock. Their relationship with their patron is like an employee and their manager. They are very tired and have a caffeine addiction.

please tell me about your characters :3c

Oh I love d&d! I'm a bit of a newbie but I already have a list of characters. My first one was a dragonborn bard who wanted to turn the party into a band. He managed to convince the dwarf to play the "drums". They were helmets of fallen foes. Our tiefling wizard was the singer and he was played the lute. He was super cheery and loved telling tall tales about their adventures. He made a friend with a giant talking crab. :)

I'm typically dm, but im starting a new campaign soon as a player! my character is a nyanbinary cyborg tabaxi fighter who grew up as the champion of an underground fighting ring! the cyborg species is an optional addon crafted by our dm :) their name is stellar, and they use they/them pronouns. their enemy(lover) is another tabaxi from the ring, shadow :) im very excited to see these guys!!!

Ahhhhhh i love them 💕

I’m actually saving the teifling for another time now. Doesn’t really fit the setting. Instead I’m playing a nb aasimar way of the sun soul monk. Very excited! I’ve never played a monk before. Our party isn’t very balanced buuut it’s a one shot so I figured it’s more important to play something fun than try and balance the party.

Just hoping two of the party members that I haven’t played with in over 5 years are chill 😬 last time we did a campaign the dm was real serious about rations and weight limits and stuff like that and they were all very into it... my sister kinda ignores that stuff because we agree it’s boring so I’m hoping they don’t complain about her dm style. One of the players kinda guilted her into dming in the first place so if he complains i may have to strangle someone.

Uh, I have too many characters to talk about XD I apologize if the post is long lol

In the one campaign I play in, I'm playing a halfling ranger/bard with her bear companion. Originally, the character was inspired by the "soldier bear" of WWII, Wojtek (a good bit of my heritage is Polish), but along the way the story for the character itself changed. My character, Arini, grew up in nobility (campaign is set in a Roman-like empire, so more like upper-class/pollical/military family). Her uncle was something along the lines of a general, and had no family of his own, so in his off-time spent a lot of time around his nieces and nephews(adopted technically. Arini's mother was his adopted sister). The bear came into the picture because the uncle and Arini on an outing when she was little passed by a bear cub tied up by a tavern. Arini locked eyes with it for a moment and could tell it was in destress. It put her in a bad mood the rest of the day, which her uncle noticed. On learning the source of Arini's bad mood, the uncle decided to investigate, and discovered the bear cub himself (didn't notice it before). He convinced the tavern-owner to sell him the bear cub and also somehow convinced Arini's mother to let it be part of the family lol Kanar, the bear, ends up as spoiled as spoiled can be. Arini's father ends up more or less treating the bear like a drinking buddy, and overall Kanar ends up really part of the family.

Arini and her older sister ran off (with Kanar) as teenagers to chase their dreams of being artists, knowing their parents would probably disapprove. They return home several years later after being modestly successful to show their parents that they could make their own way in the world, finding (or at least seeing it for the first time) their home town corrupt, guards harassing merchants for taxes they clearly can't pay and the like. Arini and her sister basically then go and play Robin Hood, except it becomes more about a pissing match between them and their parents while they play bandit queens. The mess eventually brings in an official investigation, and Arini's parents as well as other leaders of the town are brought to justice, Arini is pardoned and adopted by her uncle. Arini's sister comes to the conclusion that society itself is corrupt, and runs off to live in the woods, while Arini still has hope that society can be good and has faith in the empire, despite its flaws. She becomes a bounty hunter, not wanting to join the military, and more or less ends up working as an investigator for various individuals her uncle trusts in the government.

In the campaign currently... let's just say her alignment may be shifting XD I may have accidently unleashed a "bandit" army on a city. To be honest, Arini sympathizes with them. Basically the empire refuses to recognize this particular tribe and their claim to the land, and the governor(the villain of this arch) has been raiding a sacred burial site and stole an artifact of great importance. More or less we saved one of the supposed "bandits" and found out about the item they are looking for, which Arini happened to know was in the possession of her rival who is working for the governor. Meanwhile, the governor, albeit, is waging war on his own city. And now the party is preparing to go face the governor before things get out of hand (so we more or less have a time-limit right now. Arini I'd say really just pulled an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" move with the bandits, but I still get smack from one of my friends about it).

---------
Another campaign I'm in just ended, but I had two characters in it. One was written off in a reasonable manner so I could play the other. The first one was my Leonin storm herald barbarian. In short, she and her twin brother (another PC) had their tribe more or less destroyed. She, having been set to be their next leader and having lost her husband and son, was devastated and the two of them went off to become stronger. Shadow, my character, was intending to return home eventually and retake her people's land. Things in the campaign got to the point I was kind of just bored playing a barbarian when there wasn't enough combat, so I had her wander off on more or less a mission to find herself and what was really important, because she was starting to think avenging the family she lost was not what was important anymore.
Second character I ended up playing was also a barbarian, but was a barbarian druid. She was a lizardfolk who was more like the "soft-skins", as her people called other races. Basically she understood emotions much more than other lizardfolk. Anyway, I didn't get to play her long, but she was fun to play.
---------------------
New campaign that is starting in place of the one that ended is going to be an interesting one I feel. I was going to go for my "chicken-mancer" build (a total meme of a character. Basically insane character who's obsessed with chickens), but then when it appeared the party was going for evil campaign, I switched to my fallen angel character I've had in the works.
----------
To keep this short, here's some links with art/story of some of my old characters I loved:
-Pyra, Tiefling Sorcerer/Cleric
-Azira, Changeling Warlock/Paladin of Tiamat. This character was such a joy to play XD
-Ravara, Half-Elf Druid/Fighter/Cleric
-Yllara, Half-Elf Ranger/Druid (Ravara's mother). My first 5e and really any DnD character (I played a 3.5 character once, before I understood how TTRPGs worked really, and the DM, my brother, only explanation to me when I asked how to play was, "roll the dice").

Hmm my active pc is a tiefling bard who was raised by humans. The worlds not very fond of tiefs and they are nearly extinct, so weirdly she learned what she could abt tieflings from an elf. She met another of her own kind for the first time a bit back and he’s followed her around ever since. She has a terrible knack for getting one shot but somehow living through them all. She’s mostly looking to raise in political standing to help people and show tieflings can be not-evil.
